Volvo V50 Headliner Replacement

Hi All, excited to join the community. I have two V50s... one in Sweden (2012 d2 manual) and one in America (2005 t5 manual). Been working over the weekend to replace the headliner thats been sagging on the 05 T5 model. I have two questions for the group:

1. I took off the headliner and tried putting new fabric on it after removing the old fabric and orange foam. The new fabric however wrinkled as I was glueing it to the old headliner. For clarity, I put glue on the headliner AND the new fabric (foam side obviously). Does anyone have any tips for putting on the fabric without it wrinkling? I'm debating whether or not to take the headliner itself to an upholsterer and ask them to adhere some new fabric to the headliner since I am not too confident I will be able to do the entire space wrinkle free. The V50's headliner is about 2.4 meters or about 7.5 feet so there is a lot of area to cover and has a sunroof which complicates things. Any thoughts on this would be helpful. Basically everytime I get it wrong, I have to use a brush to remove the new foam too, hence why I am thinking of brining it in to a shop to do that part of the job.

2. Since the headliner is becoming a multiday job, I've been running around town with my harness on the passenger seat. I keep getting a notification on engine start that tells me that the "passenger airbag off service urgent". I am guessing that one of the harnesses I disconnected was associated with a sensor (maybe behind the center mirror), but wasn't quite sure. Any thoughts on what I did that might be causing the urgent notification? Wasn't occurring before I took out the headliner.

Thanks!

You don't need new foam. Just lay the new material on top of the headliner backing after removing all the orange foam.
It's really hard to avoid wrinkles. Just take your time and try to keep them in places you won't see them. It really helps to use a material that has some stretch to it - if your fabric doesn't stretch at all, you're going to have a hell of a time.
I did mine 4-ish years ago; I'd say it turned out pretty well.
