Considering switching to EBC Yellow?

Akebono Euro Ceramics. Got them on Moose and on Minnie moose.
I even un-BMW'd the BMW and put them on that.
I hate grabby brakes and I really hate brake dust.
Choices for the TR8 are limited, I'm running Centric's right now and am not happy with the dust.

I installed some Akebono semi metallics a little while ago and am pretty pleased with them so far. Not as much grab as I'd like but it's only been a few hundred miles and I did all four corners so they may still be bedding.

I had EBC yellows on my last car while they performed well, they are dusty. I went through two sets of green pads and the yellow pads coupled with their slotted and dimpled rotors and couldn't get rid of a moan that would develop when they got hot. I followed the bedding procedures very closely so no idea what the problem was. I can say that their customer support is very responsive.

I also ran the red pads with slotted and dimpled rotors on my wife's car and never had any noise problems, but didn't notice the difference between those and Napa's middle of the road pads and rotors. Unless you're going to be doing frequent heavy towing I'd recommend going with Green if you're really set on EBC.

Never tried EBC yellows, though I did have the greens on an S70 T5M once and they were decent.

looks like the Greens are recommended for lighter vehicles from what I'm seeing...not sure how those would hold up on a 4900lb xc90?

The curb weight of my last car was only 300 lbs less than the XC90 and they did great, even when towing. I think they just mean "lighter vehicles" as opposed to something with a Cummins and four tires in the back. I wouldn't think yellows would be needed in our case unless you're doing a significant amount of towing or hauling in general. Even their OEM equivalent pads are probably sufficient for most folks. I just really liked the greens because they had great bite, super low dust, and I didn't have to worry when towing.

If dust is a non issue. You’re best bet is volvo pads. No noise and it will stop.

I have Nakamoto rotors and ceramic pads coming tomorrow. I'm hoping to get them on Saturday. One review said they work great on the XC90, so we'll see.

Am using Akebono on the front. No complaints except after a while they sort of clunk and after a clean of the calipers the clunk goes away.

The rears are using Volvo pads so the difference in the brake dust is like night front vs rear! Am planning to change the rears to Akebono once the volvo pads are worn.

Previously have Akebonos and they were not great for stopping power. Currently Have Centric Ctek semi metallics on mine on all 4 corners. The centrics are way better, however brake dust is there. I wouldnt say the brake dust is bad, but definitely does accumulate. Braking power is amazing. Had to do an emergency maneuver last week due to a car cutting me off, and the brakes handled well.

Had Akebonos on 4 different cars (XC90, 2 BMWs, Mercedes) hoping each time they improved the formula and I was disappointed. Initial bite was not as good as Volvo, the pedal needs to be pushed harder/longer to get to the normal bite level of Volvo pads. Not linear at all. I find these pads can be dangerous for such a heavy vehicle, especially in traffic or city driving.

The best close to factory feel with good all around bite and no dust are the Bosch QuietCast pads (BP in the front of the part number indicates semi-metallic). I have also used Wagner ThermoQuiets with great success on other cars. The ceramic ThermoQuiets give a light white haze of brake dust instead of the black gunk found with Volvo pads. The light dust is also easy to clean and have good factory-like initial bite and stronger than Volvo hard stops. I have not tried the semi-metallic versions.

Rotors I like are 1. Bosch or 2. Zimmerman.

Akebonos and ZImmerman Coat Z rotors front and rear. Akebonos do not have great bite and have middling stopping power compared to OEM. But you get used to it after a while and no more brake dust.

This seemed to turn in the direction of a review on Akebonos. Enough so that I don't think I'll get them now, iPd pushes them I assumed it'd be a good route.

I do like the Volvo pads, but if you have chrome wheels they are your worst enemy... definitely quiet from the start and always confident brake feel. I just changed some on an 850 the Volvo pads on there lasted about 20k miles unfortunately due to one stuck caliper. I would say the remaining side had about another 10k or so left of life.
I have also run Bosch Quietcast which are currently on a C70 in my driveway and still doing well, I think Volvo has slightly more grab but Quietcast definitely lives up to the name. I also have them on the rear of my XC90 I don't notice any dust at all. Makes for a nice looking wheel with the Meyle coated rotors.

I am on OEM pads and quite happy happy with them, however they dust like holy mother of dust! Wheels turn absolutley black within 3-4 days of driving 80miles per day.

XC90 #2 is on brembo pads, not as much dust but the bite is incredible.

XC #3 is on Centric pads and those work just the way they should, lots of dust, good bite. Much cheaper than oem ones.

After reading all the feedback, I'm inclined to stop using Akebonos.

I gather there are 4 options for pads with equal or better than OEM with less dust?
