Hi there

My wife's 2013 XC90 OEM exhaust is showing signs of it's age. The front hangers corroded out and I had to add in a fix to keep the car running. I think I'm on borrowed time as it won't be long before the OEM exhaust rots through here in Toronto Canada. I think I've got at least another winter in it, but I want to be prepared to swap it out next year.

I've looked on this forum, and for a while on line for a stainless steel option for this car, but cannot find one. The only reference I have is for a twin or quad exhaust which requires losing the spare wheel and modding the rear fender which I don't want to do on the wife's car. I don't think she'd appreciated that. I just want similar to OEM specification, but in stainless steel.

Does anyone have any recommendations? I've asked IPD, and Karmaunion (UK - no longer trading) and the usual motor factor outlets by no joy. I found a company in the father land (Sweden) but I think they only make the older Volvo model exhaust in stainless. It's looking like I may need to go to a bespoke fab shop rather than buy an off the shelf item at this point.

Thanks in advance.''

Stainless steel exhaust wouldn’t be an aftermarket company’s financially profitable part for the XC90 3.2 due to the price. You can get aftermarket direct replacements or, as you have found, have a local shop make their own. Since the exhaust isn’t a restriction, it isn’t a particularly picky part when fabbing, compared to say a tuned turbo car which is sensitive to several millimeters reduction in pipe diameter.

I had to change my mid-pipe resonator (under front seats) a few years back due to rust and went with the factory Volvo part from FCP. If it rusts out again, I’ll have the lifetime warranty.

Well I can help with the harder parts to find,

I'm not sure if you can get them in Canada, but you're not that far from the US, might be worth a trip. I believe Autozone can order them even though they don't always show up in a search. If you have a local Autozone bring the Magnaflow part numbers to them and see if they can order them.

The rest of the exhaust might have to be custom made. But that shouldn't be too hard for a local shop to do. Especially if you have the old exhaust for them to copy. It's certainly easier than trying to do custom headers and cats, which a lot of those places are able to do too.
