Yes just came back from my Volvo dealer, they updated the software but none of these new features are present, is it a general rollout or limited to markets. Kinda bumped that I waited all that time for the update to take place and nothing. They did state that I have the latest updates installed. Any ideas ?

Where are you at? T6 or T5? Could it be a distinction between "checked for updates" and "updated the software". The dealer I visited originally said the same thing until I pushed that these features were available if the proper updates were applied. They ultimately found the updates that I posted earlier, but the symptoms that were listed on the invoice were tied to poor radio reception and the update was embedded in an ICM update.

Check your software version. I'm pretty sure you didn't get 997 (or 995), since otherwise you would have gotten those features. If your still on an earlier version --> go back and tell them you want the 997 version of the Sensus software...

As for checking the version:
Switch to "My Car", the last entry in the menu is called something like "Information" (can't check myself right now...), in here you'll find an entry called "Map and Software version" - there you'll find which version number your car is running.
BTW, I don't know if that also applies in the US, but since version 997 isn't a bug fix but an extension of the original software, in Europe the dealers aren't obligated to install the new software for free under warranty. Most apparently do it for free (mine did), but that can charge you for it - costs something along the line of 50 €...

It's actually listed for under $30 on an online website, which I would gladly pay to have this feature, now if I can only pry it out of my dealers hands. Going in again Friday for the second attempt but armed with a part number this time.

updated to 0997

I just came back from my dealer and they updated the software under warranty.

Yes it is. This great news. Now only we need is the auto up/down remote window operation.;)
Easy to do, just attach one of these:

Problem solved!

This is good way to really anger the service department. The information and symptoms cited for each upgrade are listed earlier in the post. I would suggest you start by making a service appointment, mention that you are aware of some Sensus and transmission updates that are embedded in the ICM and TCM, and ask them to perform any updates available for the car (specifically these modules). If the dealer can't find the updates, you can give them the information I provided earlier to see if that helps their search. Keep in mind the availability and numbering of the updates may be different in Canada.
But I thought you just said it's not a good idea to do that because it'll anger the service department.

We need more Canadian S60 owners to come on this board. Sadly most don't care lol

You statement was to "just throw" my post at them, and I indicated this is what will anger them The suggestion that I provided is that you give the dealer a chance. If the update is not upload on your car, then "give" them the information regarding the FP numbers that I posted earlier. There is a meaningful difference in the approach.

I didn't mean it literally.... Lol. I meant like go to the dealer and tell them on Swedespeed, there's XXX firmware available, and ask them to pull it up and update it in my car. Because I did go to the dealer earlier in September and I was told there were updates available. Got the car back and they said they didn't update anything because it was apparently already up to date.

If I don't have navigation, then the method of checking which firmware versions I have is still the same correct?

I took my S60 in for some warranty work and mentioned the Sensus update. They were unaware of it, but called corporate.

According to them, Volvo NA is not authorizing dealerships to install this as a stand alone update. Apparently they are testing a larger software bundle that will be rolled out at a later date. Also, those folks who got the update are now guilty of causing mischief because everyone wants it now ;)

This info is now probably 3rd hand at this point, so take it for what's worth.

I took my 2012 S60 in for its 7500 service last week. I gave the service tech the information from this thread. He received the information well and attached it to the instructions to the mechanic. My car was ready to go about an hour later, but the tech then informed me that the mechanic said that this software update takes about 4 hours and I would have to make another appointment and leave my car in the shop to get it done.

A four hour software update? Could that be for real?

DAB

I would believe it. When I took mine in the service manager said that he knew which update I was talking about and that they would first download the update to a USB memory stick and then have it installed from there with the car parked off in the corner someplace out of the way because "it takes several hours to download".

It took less than 30 minutes on my car to perform the Sensus update mentioned in this post. The service manager also stated that the comments that I had been told by the prior service adviser regarding two hours were untrue.

A comment about the ridiculous amount of time required to perform an update seems to be a strategy employed by some dealers to avoid performing the software updates as required under the Volvo Service 4 Life warranty. It could also be based on a lack of experience with the platform since some dealers have interrupted a customer's request for a software update to include checking each version of software on the car and updating those that are out of date.

Sam, I get the impression that dealerships have various ways of executing software updates. My dealer (i.e. your former dealer) told me that they use wi-fl and that it is excruciatingly slow, taking about an hour to do the Sensus updates. Others seems to use USB, hard-wired (Ethernet?) network, or laptop connections. This may explain why we are getting very different reports about the time required for these updates. I do find it curious that many dealership personnel are not terribly handy with computers and most dealerships do not have in-house IT people, which also explains why their websites are generally so poor and lacking in detailed inventory information.
