Volvo does use the Garmin file format. I obtained this database from http://www.gps-data-team.com/ for $7. It's alright. Several of the speed limits for the cameras aren't listed. Apparently, the icon can actually change color if you're approaching a POI with the speed limit defined and you're going faster than the posted speed.

Anyways... more pictures, and two demo videos!

Also includes a little exhaust teaser. :)

Name is pretty self-explanatory. Symbol lets you pick a pre-installed symbol for the POI. If you leave this blank, it uses the image that comes with the database. Sound gives you 4 options: 1 is like church bells; 2 is a ding dong; 3 is a camera shutter; and 4 doesn't work (for some reason). After you make a change, make sure to select Store.

Great features. . .if I ever pony up the dough for the Nav system I will definately refer back to this. (I see you snuck the R-Design wheel into your car as well!)
As for that 2nd video. . .only thing I can say is that was about the LEAST amount of traffic I've EVER seen on Canal Road!

It's a ghost town today, for whatever reason... Must be the upcoming holiday. Yep, I have the wheel and just about everything else. :p

I'm bummed, just got back from the dealer for my 7500 service. He insisted there were no Sensus updates available for my car. I'm still on software version 0930. I called two other dealers in my area and neither have heard of a Sensus update :( What gives? Is this update just for the T6?

No. Don't refer to it as "Sensus". Refer to it as IAM update/software download. :)

Same situation happened to me. Took the car in to the dealer to get all the software up to date because there was some outstanding software updates, but turns out there was none. More info here

On a side note, what is the infotainment system called? BMW has iDrive. Audi has MMI. Mercedes has COMAND. wdimagineer said don't refer it as "Sensus" so I dunno what else it should be called.

This is the same problem that I had last week. Your best bet is to try the IAM language, but you may still get push back since many dealers don't want to take the time to perform the software updates per the warranty. If they still refuse to acknowledge the update you might need to contact VCNA. This is the process I just went through.

Well unless I have a way of checking the updates and the software in my car by myself, then I'm at the mercy of the dealer aren't I?

I can't speak for what is required/permitted in Canada, but in the US you do have the option of taking your problem to VCNA. A Sensus update is available in the US and it should be applied to the vehicles that come in for service.

It seems to me, based on my experiences and the experiences of several others on here, Volvo is going to run into a real problem soon if they do not start getting their dealers to fall into line. Volvo has some great new cars and supposedly some even better ones on the way. They are also doing great things with their warranties and the value being offered to the customer. However, if the dealers are not able or willing to properly support these cars and programs, the sales success it is announcing on a monthly basis will quickly fade.

Call it IAM. Infotainment audio module or something.
I tried calling it Sensus and received a strange look from the service adviser and then I called it the infotainment system, "you know the thing with all the menus" They should have understand what I was talking about and they had to hook the car up to VIDA for the recall software update but they insist there wasn't an update. One dealer told me that once the car is connected to VIDA all possible updates will be noted. So now I'm wondering if this update will only work with a certain rev of hardware. That would really suck!

BTW, it's not just Volvo, VW (and I'm sure others) are just as bad. I had brought my VW in for a recurring problem that was acknowledged and addressed via a TB from VWoA. The service adviser was trying to convince me the behavior that I was complaining about was "normal" for my car. Luckily I had printed out the TB and showed it to him and asked, "If this behavior is normal than why is there a solution!" I can understand not studying every TB released but these guys didn't even seem aware of them at all let alone search them.

Might anyone have a TB for this update so that I can have the dealer try a little harder to find the software?

I just got back from the dealer to pick up my car and will post the info from the invoice shortly. Hopefully that will get you want you need. I did notice that my dealer ended up writing it up as a complaint with satellite radio reception. The update has improved my reception.

So the information I got was FP Number: 31268488-9, Description: 31268488 - ICM Upgrade and FP Number 31295476-1, Description: 31295476 - Service Upgrade. Hopefully that helps.

As it happens, with Sensus software 0997 you can import POIs. They're tagged in the system as MyPOI.

After my phone died I noticed an option under Nav Settings -> Guidance Options to alert when near a MyPOI. Jazx83, this is probably what you are referring to when you mention having a sound play for a custom POI.
Yes it is. This great news. Now only we need is the auto up/down remote window operation.;)

Great. As Volvobuff said, the update is embedded in other updates. I guess you have to complain about the right problem to get the update.

How do we "force" them to check and see if the update is indeed available? Just throw what seaton463 posted at them and ask them to check? Or should I e-mail Volvo Cars of Canada?
This is good way to really anger the service department. The information and symptoms cited for each upgrade are listed earlier in the post. I would suggest you start by making a service appointment, mention that you are aware of some Sensus and transmission updates that are embedded in the ICM and TCM, and ask them to perform any updates available for the car (specifically these modules). If the dealer can't find the updates, you can give them the information I provided earlier to see if that helps their search. Keep in mind the availability and numbering of the updates may be different in Canada.
