A word of caution: I have Windows 10 64 bit running on an old laptop with the Intel Pentium P6100 procesor and this processor does not support VT, thus I get the error [ this kernel requires an x86-64 CPU, but only detected an i686 CPU-unable to boot]. I also run Linux 64 bit with virtual box and get the same error there. So, I believe it is the processor.

Actually, I have to correct myself!;) Even with the Intel Pentium P6100 I have een able to run VirtualBox and create a Windoes 7 VM on my Windows 10 machine. Go figure.

Yeah, the VM build does require VT as a minimum, VT-d is best. The next release will be better for those using older hardware. I will continue to try and make sure options so that everyone is covered. A Virtual Box version is to come as well so that Mac users have a free options.
Well, I finally got VIDA installed on a VirtualBox Windows 7 Pro, without VT( my processor does not have VT). Host is Windows 10 64 Bit with Intel Pentium P6100, a fairly older processor. Created a VMDK and added it to the VirtualBox settings for the Win 7 Pro. I used the VMWare 7 zip downloaded version. The VIDA icons appear on the Win7 Virtual machine desktop with the Vida All-in-One icon along with some others. the All-in-One runs fine. Now I have to obtain a DICE unit. Anyone recommend any good ones?

After getting the "service machine", provided by roxanascham, installed to a virtual windows 7 pro 32 bit system, I ordered a VIDA/DICE unit and plugged it to virtual machine and to the running vehicle, confirmed that it read the vehicle information, displaying VIN and other information. Under Diagnostics I can see the Module tree with ECM,TCM, etc. All I can get is information about the vehicle, but no where in TCM where I can reset the Fluid Counter, for example. Are there any DICE units out that only read information, but will not send communication to the vehicle? Or, if anyone has the specific steps, after Vida loads and reads the vehicle, to get to the TCM Fluid Counter reset?

There is an option to test dice communication in vida....
Cant recall on top of my mind...but it is in the firts steps...
I think its under vehicle information

Yes, I have tested the DICE communication and it passes as "OK". Also the ECM/TCM shows green so communication should be
available.
I have found the following procedure online:(Perhaps someone could verify for 2014D)
1. Click on Diagnostic tab
2. Click on sub tab Vehicle Communication
3.Go to TCM and then Advance tab
4. From there you click on Fluid Change

But I don't believe I am getting all of those. When I select TCM, I only get a folder structure on the lower part of the screen that gives information. I don't think I am seeing the Advanced Tab

Added: I am going to try again today. I am thinking that after the car is read and the information displayed that I failed to click <OK>.

----okay, finally got down to "Reset Transmission Fluid Counter', but when attempting the reset, got the message "no communication with control module". I haven't given up YET. And YES the key was in position II

roxanascham's patch for license works for me. Thank you roxanascham.:partywave:

I need some help diagnosing a possily defective DICE unit. I have no problems running 2014D, actually on two computers, one resident from CD that came with DICE unit, and one on virtualbox setup with the service machine provided by roxanascham.
Anyone who has successfully reset the transmission fluid counter, which lights on the dice unit are either on or flashing when the car is running and OBD cable plugged in and USB plugged into computer. Please tell me what you see. I know volvosweden has done this and in his video there are more lights flashing than on mine. Many thanks to anyone who can help. DICE is 206751, but all Chinese clones may have this same numer regardless.

The fluid counter supposed to be reset with the engine off and key in posII, have not paid attention to the LEDs (edit- see this was already tried).

If the DICE is connected and communicating to the point you're able to see the reset (in Vehicle Communications/Activations I think), it's likely that the unit is functioning. Could do a re-read of the modules, see if that clears anything up. Any errors on TCM (might prevent more menus being shown) when you look at diagnostics?
Thank you. Yes, I understand how it is supposed to work. But, I believe my DICE is defective, even though DICE communication tests OK generally, through the Windows Start/Dice/DICE Diagnostics. The bottom <Vehicle Interface status> light blinks orange constantly. I believe it is supposed to be ON constantly when Interface has been established. This results in the infamous [CEM] error indication when the vehicle is being Read. [Also, my Scangauge works perfectly with this vehicle, and it connects to the OBD port and reads many parameters of vehicle performance.]

I do have a teleca 1163 5.2 green board in my DICE unit, but it is missing some components as shown here from a seller on AliExpress

The Area Circled bottom left where the 5 components connect 10 contacts. Those 5 black components are not on mine. Everything else appears identical. Of course if I ordered the one that shows this I might not get exactly that. That is just the way it is with clones, some images show those components and some do not.

ADDED: I found the Volvo document on which lights on the DICE unit are supposed to be on, which colors, and whether blinking or steady. My unit is definately defective.

UPDATE:1/13/18: based on a recommendation from Roxy, I purchased a VIDA/DICE unit from Amazon. More expensive than Ebay, but it arrived and worked perfectly right out of the box. Was able to "Reset Fluid Counter", observe transmission temperature and reset Motor Oil Service light.

I kinda jumped on the last post without seeing your earlier post on what you had already attempted. Just seems odd that you're able to connect to the car but not complete the reset action. Can you pull parameters from the individual modules and see them on the screen? I probably won't be much help but wanted to ask a few basic questions first. Apologies for any inconvenience caused....
No problem. Actually my DICE can no longer read my vehicle. See above post.

Just an FY! from Volvo: Pirated DiCE products are becoming increasingly common. These units are mostly available from aftermarket sources and websites. These units commonly cost between one half to two thirds the Volvo price, sometimes including an illegal version of VIDA. Technically, the units are of much less quality and they have been proven to introduce diagnostics and fault tracing issues, as well as new problems into the vehicle. All of which will result in repair delays and customer dissatisfaction.

Most importantly, Volvo will not provide support to customers using these units. Volvo can only support DiCE tools manufactured to our standards from Bosch or those based on J2534-2 certifications.
I think I would pay 1/3 more for a genuine Bosch DICE, but how to buy????

I haven't used VIDA in awhile and was just able to log on fine without running a patch. I downloaded it originally a year ago. Could the date have already been changed?
Interesting. You can tell the expiration date by looking at the License file inside Vida. Open it with Notepad. I used Roxy's Service Machine to setup mine on VirtualBox and it had an expiration of 31Dec2017 in the License file. I have wondered about this issue with those being sold now on CD and wondered how that License file applies to those.

I have a bluetooth Dice and it quit working Jan 1. I tried applying the 64 bit patch and it comes up saying patched by Roxy, but won't go past the login. Help I don't know where to go from here. It was working. And the OS shows it can see the DICE
DICE not working or VIDA not working? Even if DICE not working, you should be able to Login to VIDA. IS this 2014D version?

Roxy, just to let you know, I have tried to download the USB version at least 3 times from two different servers, 16 North and FSC servers, and after about an hour or two, I get a failed to download, or incomplete download. Of course I am running VIDA 2014D just fine, but the failure to complete the USB download is a puzzle, but not critical to me.

Sadly, to make it work 100% on Workstation 10, I would have to recreate the image. What you might want to do is look back a page or two, there is a member that converted my VMware image to a VirtualBox image. If you download that image you can run it with VirtualBox and keep Workstation 10.
A vmdk file will work with VirtualBox.

The version of 2014D that I got from Whizkid on this Forum ,who bought it from Darius/Digital-Life, does not have an expiration date as far as I can tell. I installed it after 1, 2018 and have applied no patch to it. I have it along with Roxy's Service Machine running on two computers, including one with Linux Mint. Actually, VIDA running on 3 different operating systems. So, I am some what "over" VIDA-ed.;) Yeah, I now have two DICE units, but the one from Digital-Life is supposed to have the original Renasas Controller in it.

Pharland, please readthe first post in this thread. Study it carefully. I recommend the virtual Machine version, but that is just the one I installed. The License patch is shown in the same download folder as the latest build. You will need to download the latest build plus the patch,
1. Builds and Patches for VM version is HERE
2. Download for VM Player
