Many have been asking me about the Ultra Racing braces and I have now installed all 4, so here is my review.

There are 4 braces, which can all be purchased from ViVA Performance: (note: not photos from my car)

First, I installed the front upper brace. This made the car immediately feel much more planted and created a firmer ride. From a comfort standpoint, it was slightly harsher, but definitely not even close to unbearable. It made the car feel much tighter in turns as well.

After driving with just the front brace installed for about a month, I installed the rear upper brace. This made the car feel even tighter around turns and made the rear seem like it was willing to come out a little more. It once again made the ride slightly harsher, but not bad.

I drove with the front and rear braces in for about a month, and today installed the lower front and lower rear braces. I have spent a few hours today driving around and putting the car through its paces. First off, I had read in other reviews that the ride would be rough when hitting uneven road and bumps. This is certainly NOT the case for me. I feel like the car glides over bumps now and feels much smoother. I would say that the ride comfort since installing all 4 is better than when just the upper braces were installed.

Secondly, the car feels comfortably tight. There is no more looseness on the road, especially over bumps. Taking turns at high (but legal :p) speeds is amazing. The body roll is definitely still there and I was not expecting this to go away without sways. However, it feels flatter and there is definitely more control. The most drastic difference can be seen in aggressive lane changing. By aggressive lane changing, I mean going from one lane to the other as quickly as possible . Without any braces, the car has serious flex and feels very loose. With the upper braces, this was made substantially better. However, with the lower braces, it is absolutely ridiculous how flat the car seemingly stays. More importantly, control is never sacrificed.

Lastly, ground clearance is not an issue with the lower braces. They do not hang lower than the (stock) exhaust.

Overall, I am extremely satisfied with the braces and happy I installed all 4. So, anybody have any questions? :D

Didn't have to support anything when installing the lowers. Installation was very simple, although we did need to grind out one of the holes in the rear brace slightly to accommodate the stock bolt.

Good review! I wonder if I would get the same effect on the p1 chassis as well. I'll have to get a set and try them out

Seems like some solid products and maybe something in the near future that I might be looking into!

Here are my questions

-With the four braces on, what would the long term effects be from making a car super stiff on all four parts whereas the stock car was designed to flex and move accordingly?

-Can you post a front bumper photo of the ground clearance that may or may not be in jeopardy from installing the lower supports?

Thanks!

I really recommend getting all 4 if you can. I think the lower braces had the most drastic impact, but I installed 2 at a time so it's tough to say. The front upper is a good place to start. You'll notice a big difference just from that.

If a number of people are considering buying these in the near future, then maybe a group buy would be possible.

I bought the upper front chassis brace for my VR from one of UR's authorized US dealers a few years ago, because they offered the best price.

ultra racing's authorized international dealer list: http://www.ultraracing.com.my/International_Dealers_page.asp

Never registered mine. I'm sure I don't have the warranty card anymore.

I need lowers still.

ViVA sells the product in the U.S. Group buy discussions would need to be coordinated with George:

If someone has an issue with ViVA and group buys, please contact me. The Volvo community is small and it is important to support the few aftermarket vendors that have supported the community for many years.

Thanks.

I could be interested in a group buy.

Out of curiosity, has anyone tried the EST CF strut brace they offer, and how it would compare to the UR one??

Something good, I'd say.

If only sways were as easy to install as these... :(

My car isn't lowered, (yet) and I definitely hit one of those rear points. Mine are lower than the exhaust.

Can't wait to add both lowers, and the rear. Ordered last Friday :D. To my already great handling setup. Front upper and IPD tracks sways, and endlinks soon to be repalced with a set of power grids from TKI.
