Just did our 2017 T6 last night. Pretty easy. Didn’t see a crush washer on the drain plug so will keep an eye on it to see if it leaks.

Curious about the filter housing however. Doesn’t appear to be anything stopping us from torquing that little centre bolt while the filter housing is off? I replaced the oring and torqued it back into place after I had replaced the filter and torqued the housing to spec. Getting a little bit of sweating around the housing today after 30kms.
15pcs Oil Drain Plug Gasket Crush Washer Seal - 18mm Replacement for Porsche/Volvo PN 90012310630/977751 Most Popular Models 1993-2020 by AUTOMAJOR https://a.co/d/elp6ZX9

gotvthese off of Amazon, I would put one on. As far as the center plug on the filter housing, I had one like that on my Toyota tundra. I never unscrewed that, just took the housing off. No problems.

Thanks for this post.

In case anyone else is a total idiot like me and drains the oil only to realize they don’t actually have the correct filter cap wrench the day before the big family beach vacation and has to get one that day: O’Reilly sells an 86mm 16 flute cap wrench that works if you line it with a single paper towel to close the clearance.

Torque Specs

The oil drain plug torque is 38. Nt-m (28. Lb-ft), the oil filter housing is 25 Nt-m (18.4 lb-ft.) and the oil filter plug is 4 Nt-m (3. Lb-ft)
Used these and have to say that filter housing torque is so light it makes me nervous.

Thank you @Ultrarunner511 ! I have an XC90 and a V90 that I'm going to start doing my own oil changes on. It's good I can buy the same parts and tools.

See a fellow Canuck - germanparts.ca stocks the oil and oe filters if you want to order LiquiMoly (Special Tec V is the Volvo spec). They often do sales of 10-20% off as well, if you’re into saving a bit here and there.
Thanks for the tip! I'll check that out. I've been ordering off of volvopartsca.ca, but I will compare prices

So I've been trying to find Castrol Edge Professional V in Canada and I can't find any. Has it been rebranded to something else? I can find Castrol Edge Extended Performance, and Castrol Edge Euro Car that are in the same colour container as the Professional V, and I'm thinking it's just called something else in Canada? Or is it not available to consumers here?

I wrote to Castrol North America about this and here is the response I got:

Thank you for contacting Castrol North America.

A newer product called Castrol EDGE EURO 0W-20 V is available for purchase in the retail space in a 1 quart bottle size covering the Volvo VCC RBS0-2AE oil specification:
  • Castrol EDGE EURO 0W-20 V – 6 x 1 US Quart Bottle – Part # 0203166

The Volvo VCC RBS0-2AE specification calls for a fluid that provides strong engine protection while delivering improved fuel economy benefits. It requires oil that meets stringent ACEA European industry requirements and passes engine test requirements on piston cleanliness and wear while also providing the strong fuel economy benefit of a lower viscosity 0W-20 oil.

Castrol EDGE Professional V 0W-20 is also available and approved for use in Volvo vehicles that require a Volvo VCC RBS0-2AE specification 0W-20 lubricant however Castrol EDGE Professional V 0W-20 can only be purchased through Volvo dealership locations.

That **** is basically unobtanium.

I went with Pennzoil Platinum 0w-20, can be found at most Wally Worlds and Auto part stores. They also make a Platinum Euro but good luck finding it.

Also, PRO TIP: When removing the drain plug, watch out as the oil SHOOTS out, I over shot the drain pan for a second.

That's not VCC oil. You are ****ing yourself with volvo if you have consumption issues down the road. They will not help you.

Humm didn't see that VCC rating.. it meets all the other requirements and has the same specs. I'll look into it.
Lol, VCC IS a specification, so if it doesn't meet that it doesn't have the same specs.
