Are the date and time accurate and set to automatic?

My 2016 T6 Inscription has started losing it’s position on the sat nav, randomly jumping to a nearby street or suburb and trying to align its travel with streets that it is not on. Switching the car off and on doesn’t fix it, I have tried locking and walking away, but that doesn’t help either. Eventually it will come good.

Has anyone else had this issue, thoughts on cause? I had the maps update by the dealer last week and it happened again yesterday.

I had the same issue twice. The first time it fixed itself after several on and off’s. The second time I took it in and the dealer just updated the maps, at a charge of course. They said the maps have to be updated or you run Into this issue. Sounds fishy and I have done my own updates via a usb from volvo we’d site for map updates. Try that first and if no luck, head for the dealer who may charge you.

 

Thanks. The dealer updated the maps a few weeks back and it is still happening. That’s why I posted here…

 

Looks like a bad lock on the gps satellites. Could be related to a bad antenna.

 

No, they did a software update and it has kept happening, every few weeks

 

Maybe your VCM module needs new battery, but better to visit dealer to read diagnostic codes

This is an interesting statement...
Does the VCM use a battery like the Cell Battery on laptops to keep the time & date for the BIOS? Do you have a picture of it?

 

Since I was deeply disappointed by Volvo, I did look for an aftermarket alternative and this solution does fit to my expectations
