Just checked my 2020 XC60 T6 and it’s been updated…go figure!!👍👍✌✌
A 2020 XC60 wouldn't have the AAOS/Google software.

Your car can't update the OS at all - that has to be done by the dealer. The updates that you MAY see relate to downloaded apps and data. Whatever version you have of SENSUS is what you drove off the lot with. The upside is that SENSUS was OK to start and will be stable throughout your ownership.

Well, the new update is not yet available OTA, but Volvo announces by LinkedIn that the 'big' update is already due within weeks for certain models.
Of course weeks can mean months in Volvo terminology, I suppose.

The second photo shows the new UI on the older 9" screen. I was hoping to have the drive mode selection shortcut on the home screen, but it looks like its removed for the smaller screen. Come on! I’d much rather see shortcuts (specifically drive modes) than some silly app icons. And I’d gladly sacrifice a bit of navigation space to have a permanent shortcut bar above the climate control settings, where I can pin a few most frequently used apps and settings.

That's the same UI as now. These pics aren't from the big UI refresh coming this year. The stuff from the last couple posts seems to just be a new version of the Google Play store for apps they're launching.

This is the new UI below. Not the best closeup render, but there is a drive modes button to tap. It basically looks more like Android Auto overall.

My beef, as somebody who really enjoys AAOS, is that recent updates have induced quite a bit of lag. Its dumb that you don't have a simple switch to go from PURE to HYBRID like every other vehicle on the road. But, moving it all to a screen, and then have the screen wait an eternity to pop up the drive modes menu is nuts. I've usually made it all the way to the highway before it lets me switch into HYBRID.

Gets really annoying on this long hill climb I have coming back from my vacation home. The car is in PURE, and it doesn't seem to want to switch to HYBRID even though I'm dropping the hammer on the accelerator (I've found that the automatic jump from PURE to HYBRID is more about speed and acceleration than demand on the engine that you might see in a hill climb). So, I sit and struggle up the hill, waiting for the drive mode to pop up.

I'm ok waiting for the UI refresh if 3.4.4. at least gets rid of that terrible lag.

NGL, 3.3.16 software update has been the most buggy and annoying for me. It would be nice if they at least released this software 3.4.4 after this delay especially to fix the many issues ex. backup camera doesn’t always work, sound disappears , carplay disconnection, freezing or extremely slow to operate menus, some apps don’t even open, just swiping to getting into settings or maps just loading quickly a just using the device to get into menus in general is where the annoyance is mostly - my kid is like what’s wrong with this car bro constantly ! At this point we don’t need more features or drivechain optimization just a consistent operable Infotainment system! If they push this new 3.4.4 OS with slower latency, don’t bring back ETA in google maps then I don't blame person above to set car on fire! Seriously though if the new system wide UI change that comes later in year doesn’t fix the basic operating standards that are commonly needed to all recent cars with a touchscreen to operate we all should try to do something together to get volvo to listen and maybe bring back some physical buttons. A nightmare would be they push out this upcoming huge UI change like the most recent MY 25EV when they know the hardware simply can’t handle it. I’m also wondering if the software developers simply overlooked clearing the cache regularly to not confuse the operation of the system ? I realize the force reset temporarily fixes the issues so wouldn’t this mean that? I still think the only thing Volvo owes us from when purchasing the car is that the basic functionally of the infotainment system works all the time - not to introduce newer features.

The sound (audio, turn signal clicks, etc..) went out on our 2023 XC40 and a week later the sound went out on our 2023 XC60. I called the dealership to make an appointment and was told on the phone that Volvo found they have to fine tune the new updates to make sure it works on older and newer models.
In the meantime...... He reminded me that all I had to do was hold the reset button at the bottom of the screen down until the "Clean Screen" prompt comes up and continue holding down until the Volvo logo come back up. It works great.

I watch the moon wax and wane,
marking time in silver scars.
Footsteps echo down the lane—
never yours, just passing cars.

The wind hums low, a hollow tune,
whispers etched in dying light.
Each dusk dissolves too soon,
each dawn arrives too pale, too white.

I count the days in fading ink,
trace their ghosts upon the door.
How much longer? Still, I sink—
adrift in waiting, lost once more.
‘Tis just another day without AAOS 3.4.4.

I watched the stars blink out in turn,
As if they, too, had grown tired.
The clock ticks soft, the pages burn—
A quiet world, uninspired.

I searched the breeze for something new,
A thors hammer turn signal in the static haze.
But skies stay stuck in shades of denim blue,
And hours blur in sleepless daze.

The inbox holds no sweet relief,
No patch, no ping, no blessed code.
Just silence as pure mode threaded through with grief,
As patience walks a lonely road.

I read swedespeed, I refresh feed and still believe,
Though hope is frayed, though spirits dip.
One day, perhaps, I shall receive—
AAOS 3.4.4… on one last glorious zip.
