DIY Rip kit for 99+ ??

So my goal here was to end up with a RIP kit for significantly less than whats available new. I bought a intercooler piping kit for $125 and short of a few transition silicones it's got all the piping and couplers needed. I know this is fairly easy for -98 cars since they don't have the MAP sensor in the throttle pipe, but I figured I could just cut the plastic pipe right before that and leave the sensors be. No loss of performance since it transitions down in diameter at the throttle anyways.

I went to measure the diameter of the pipe today to see what size transition I needed, and realized that the pipe starts to turn almost immediately behind the sensors, leaving practically no room for a silicone coupler to hang on to. That, paired with having no "barb" for the t-bolt clamps to grab onto would probably end up just blowing off under boost. Has anyone figured that part of the 99+ diy rip kit out? It completely slipped my mind that would be a problem and was wondering if anyone has crossed this bridge as I can only find info for -98.

The diagram isn't oriented correctly, but right where the sensors end is where it starts bending leaving no room as mentioned

The plastic IC pipe will deform under the clamping load and leak. Thats why nobody's done a homemade kit for ME7 p80.

Just buy the do88 kit when it goes on sale on Black Friday?

Still recommend a Quaife instead of engine bay bling.

NOTHING....can beat the improvement in performance drivability of FWD than a Quaife...my 84 Callaway GTI I built in the late 80's...proof and testament to that...why I already have one ready for my 5speed conversion....can't wait!!!

Well, Delrin and proper alignment for the budget end of things. But Jeremy already has that all

well, that's a given...if you're putting that kind of effort and $$ into it....you're well beyond stage 1 stuff.... :geek:

I'm still trying to source a top pipe for my incomplete Snabb kit I pulled at the junkyard a while back. I just brought the V70R over to my shop, so now I can take some time to fix some stuff up on it that's long overdue... including making something for that RIP kit.

So much for having it there as a running, driving parts runner 😂

Lol why was there only half of a rip kit on a car? So you've got the Snabb bottom intercooler > throttle pipe? If thats the case you should be able to fairly easily make the top pipe. I've seen people use p2 OTE pipes since that gets you 90% of the way there and then just use silicone to jump to the intercooler but its not shiny so eh. That, or just use the intercooler piping kits like i had planned on and like Omar did. Just need a 90 and a straight aluminum pipe, silicone to join them right over the injectors, and then silicone from turbo and intercooler inlet
