Volvo no longer sells the P2 V70 trailer hitch receiver kit 30682101 (supercedes 8682307). They do sell the P2 XC70 trailer hitch receiver kit 30682087 (supercedes 8682306).

Aftermarket hitch receiver manufacturers for the P2 V70 / XC70 offer a single kit that works for V70 and XC70 but those have 1-1/4 inch receiver and exit below the bumper. The Volvo OE kits have a 2 inch receiver and mount higher, exiting through a cutout in the lower plastic part of the bumper.

Does anyone have a P2 XC70 with the factory hitch receiver ? If so could you provide a picture of the hitch-frame mounting area, especially the stud the holds the rear muffler hanger. Perhaps the difference between the V70 and XC70 OE receiver kits is related to the exhaust hanger. If so, I might be able to make the XC70 kit work on my V70

I looked into this when I had P2 V70 and it appeared that the XC70 receiver would mount on the V70 just fine. I think the rear bumper may need a little more trimming on the V70. I ended up buying a universal 2-inch receiver from Autozone for $80 that I was able to mount up with a little cutting. It was supposed to fit on full-size Chevy trucks. I was using it for a bike rack and only towed a tiny trailer with it so I wasn't too concerned with my mods.

I'm very curious as well! I imagine the location is just a bit different between the two?

I may do a bit of trimming to my R bumper...

Its the same. I have a V70 hitch on my XC and have put XC hitches on V70s. You really do want the OEM hitch its very well made and secure.

Calling around, can't find a dealership with one, XC or otherwise. All get the same answer, "it's discontinued"

And if I slip up and say I have a V70 vrs XC70, they get confused. I clarify again and again I'll take either.

I've had Curt 1-1/4" hitch receiver on one XC70 and OE 2" on my current XC70. Curt does not require bumper trimming, OE - does. Mount points are the same. Exhaust hanger is perhaps the same. If not, nothing a $100 stick welder can't fix.

Yep, both discontinued. I got the last new XC hitch in the US a year and a half ago. You REALLY want the factory Volvo hitch - it's 2" and far higher quality than any aftermarket hitch I've ever dealt with

Yeah, I wish I was smart enough that I could set alerts to go off when my local yards add a P2 to their sites!

Check their website, with LKQ you can do just that. I get a email every time a P2 hits my local yards.
