Just ordered mine, haha fingers crossed!

Ordered mine exactly a month ago. Still didnt receive it. Filed a dispute through aliexpress and still no progress. Vendor isnt replying to any messages. Except to tell me to file a dispute which i already have before he even said it. I guess i just got robbed. I will try and order from the vendors as mentioned in this thread.

alright even after getting ripped off from aliexpress i have decided to order the vida dice pro from Yolanda. seems to be the most reputable. this time i requested to do the transaction via paypal as i feel like im better protected that way. we'll see what happens

NO. Volvo is now checking DiCE serial numbers when you sign on, and they will refuse to allow anything to connect to their system with the clone serial number (they all have the same serial number). So, clones are good for DIY diagnostics, but not downloading software. Volvo has progressively gotten nastier about this over the last year +. Know a dealer mechanic who had one, and Volvo told the dealership they knew someone was using a clone, and they would go after the dealer legally if it didn't stop. Mechanic had to take his unit home, can no longer use it at work, because Volvo can tell if a clone unit has been used on it. I suspect that is for the very latest cars, not the earlier ones, but don't know that for certain.

I received my Vida/DicePro from the below listing yesterday, fired it up today. Everything seems to work as advertised. Has a nice leather case, and the actual Dice unit is metal. The only drawback I see is that it has no external 12V hookup other then to the car.

What was the firmware version of the DiCE Pro units you guys have purchased from Yolanda?

Do you think that the firmware can be upgraded while the DiCE is connected to the car (to be powered)?

You may be able to update the firmwar with the unit attached to the car. I've always done it with a separate power supply for the unit. Female plug with 9 to 18 volts, and it works fine.

DiCE PRO doesn't have separate power input but Landru just confirmed to me he managed to do the update.

Thanks to both of you for the answers!

Firmware update allows using the unit with later versions of VIDA. Not necessary if you are using an older version that works on your car.

Landru: what is the DiCE unit number reported by your unit. All the clones now sold that I know of report 206751, and that is the number Volvo has blackflagged. If your is different, wonder how long before Volvo finds that out? PM me with the answer please.

Thinking about taking the plunge and purchasing one of these DICE/VIDA units. Who is the best reliable source for these? Does Yolanda also sell on eBay?

For anyone that buys one from china and gets the 2012d version of vida with it and your dice unit wont communicate with windows, find a dice driver version from a 2010 version of vida. I had to do this last night and it worked perfectly. I then updated the firmware and reloaded the newer drivers. If anyone needs help finding the older drivers sende a pm and I can help.

Can anybody tell me what kind of 12v Adaptor they used. Im looking at radio shack and they have some but they all have different am ratings.

Just ordered from Shenzhen OEMScan Technology Co., Ltd. Order was promptly handled by "pauline Liu." She had several careful questions. Awaiting delivery.

Edit 3/10/14:
DiCE "Pro" received as promised after seven day transit. "Pro" apparently means no 12v power input, and no sticker with legends for the LED's. In fact, the (genuine) leather case it comes in covers the LED's up completely.

I powered the DiCE through pins on OBD2 connector & plugged it into the USB port. The DiCE unit installed itself on the netbook.

I fired up my VMware VIDA implementation on my Win 8.1 netbook but could not establish comms.

I transferred the DiCE directory from the virtual machine to the netbook, and was able to update to the firmware version needed by my VIDA edition. The VMware VIDA was then able to establish comms, and DiCE correctly read my V50's trouble codes. SUCCESS!

Mine also bought about 14 months ago from Shenzen is marked 9 - 18v 12 VA. I have never put any DC supply to it other than via the OBDII port but I keep a smart charger hooked up to the car when using it. I understood the power supply was only an issue when downloading firmware to the car - which doesn't arise for us DIYers.
