Happy new year to all. I've got a 2000 S/70 GLT-SE with a light beige/3960 interior that I will be recovering the the front seats on. Rear seat is 95/100, dash is perfect and
I added "R" door panels in really nice shape. I'm interested in high quality/value replacement front covers. Lseat.com is out, if you dig deep enough over at the BMW forums and
Rennlist you find that guys originally love them, look great after a 6 month shrink then start to self destruct around 2-3 years down the road. Elwood Industries stuff looks to be
of very high quality, but $845.00 (upper and lower both sides) is more than I would choose to spend but I will if there is no viable option. I stumbled across "swedishcarparts.com"
and their replacement covers for $540.00 but can't find anything about them either positive or negative. They state that they are a"99% match in both color and texture to the
original". Any and all guidance/advise will be greatly appreciated.

Source used skins. Some may even be available new still

I also have 3960 in a 98 MY and need driver skins only. Volvopartswebstore has the bottom and back upholstery available in many colors. I should call to see if they indeed have this shade though. Sometimes 3960 is labeled as white without a code, other times light beige, and other times beige or tan. I'm not clear to be honest.

I do see the seat back piece available but it says 99 and up so maybe that would be you.

Edit: they do carry the 3960 seat back material identified as thru 98. It's about $450 plus ship.

The seat bottom material could be the tough one to source.

Like you, a replacement would need to be an exact match for the rest of my upholstery to be worth the purchase. Sounds like I too need to explore more places. I doubt finding used driver skins is even fathomable at twenty years. Of course I drooled over Jim's 21K mi sleeper 2000 GLT he flipped for a song. I scored its all beige steering wheel but would have loved those seats as well ;).

The headrest material is not listed by these folks but perhaps that could be left alone. Mine are perfect.

Perhaps we could locate this Zane fella. See his jun 2019 comment here. He provided his set to build the template and says they're great. Wonder what he thinks six mos later. Of course he may have been offered a deep discount for letting them use his material for probably 3-4 mos to tool up the patterns.

I was the one who supplied this company the pattern to make these covers. I pulled the old skins off my seats and shipped them. they sent me back a new skins that are much higher quality than OEM and were made with attention to detail in mind. all of the fastening points were present, and the new leathers fits very well. 10/10 would recommend.
