Guy's,

I am an idiot or this might just be a coincidence !! I decided to clean and spray dw40 on the hydraulic lifts that lift my convertible. Note: Before this my top worked flawless up and down in under 30 seconds. Since my mishap I was able to get the top down but then it would not go back up. It would get to the part where the back trunk would unlock and then nothing. I would then get the message Top Malfunction. I am not hearing the motor run at all. I have checked the fuse and it passed. I should not I also had taken the Battery out of the car for a few hours to charge it. Just wondering if anyone knows If I buy Volvo Vida Dice will it be able to tell if any of the sensors are bad etc..? Is there a manual way I can test the motor itself? I am so mad at myself I should have left well enough alone. Just looking for some troubleshooting tips on what you guys would try. Is it possible that the Hydraulics all went bad a the same time and this is just a coincidence? Thanks

So I had help pulled the cord and manually took the top down so I could try and clean all the sensors. We then put the top backup and I pushed the green button to lock the hydraulic pump. I made it worse in fact now the alarm keeps going off saying the top is unlocked. Its almost like the motor is not running for the hydraulics at all. If I get a Volvo Vida Dice can that check the sensors and tell me maybe what is wrong? Does it also allow you to calibrate the top an force it to ignore the sensors and move so I can test if the motors work?

Also go to the Volvo Forums, there are some threads there that one of the engineers who designed the roof has replied to. He said maintenance is essential but you are not the first to report issues after trying to do this, others have zero problems but then high temp grease ( which is thick) is recommended.

So guys I bought the volvo vida and got the software to work but rooftop calibration seems to be a hard thing to get working. Its says in order to do this that hall sensor 6 has to be active? I am not sure what that means but mine is definently in passive mode. How can I get it in active mode?

First things first. Remove the rear seat bottom. Under the left seat there is a release cable. Pull the cable and manually operate the top. Buried in the trunk under a plastic cover is the pump with the reservoir attached. check the oil level in the res.. once you've released the top manually you can then access the sensors and other mechanisms. To clean the sensors (if that's what you think is happening) use QD electronics spray cleaner.

Thanks for your help with my top.when I first had issue the pump was in a protective cover like a sponge which was soaked full of water from a leak in the back window.i noticed the motor on the pump was bad so I replaced it. Before I replaced it the top would unlock and windows would go down like they should but then it would say malfunction bring in for service. After I replaced the motor it won't do anything thing at all. I have top down now and fuse out for the alarm so I can drive it. Weather permitting. If I put it up manually it will not be completely tight so won't drive with top up. The person I purchased it from spent over $3700 in 2016 to have pump replaced. I am hoping I don't have to replace it. I am hoping it is not that bad , maybe electrical problem.
