No. You only reset adaptation if you change the valve body.

Running the adaptation doesn't hurt anything and has shown shifting improvement in both of my VR's.

Interesting that you say the C1 oring was bad since it is the C1 bore that is bad on the earlier VBs.

Internal to the transmission, not on the valvebody itself actually. I'm rebuilding it as we speak.

07 06J tf80sc, filter was plugged solid other than two screens that had a little life in them. And the C1 O-ring/seal was torn just enough to lose the required pressure.

I agree with you that we tend to the VB conclusion when there are many other potential sources for poor shifting. In my case and yours it seems the source is something other than a valve body.

I have a significant 3 - 4, 4 - 5 shift slip under WOT that appears to be caused by low pressure... probably a worn pump or plugged filter. I've changed the fluid every 30k miles (122k now), so it will be interesting to see which it is.

So...start with checking software to make sure it is up to date, and then a fluid flush and fill? Followed by resetting the fluid age counter (and maybe the adaptation?).
I would do that before touching the valve body. Based on my recent experience and your serial number I would doubt you have a VB issue.

Oh not the C1 solenoid oring.. Gotcha

Then I will start there. This the best write-up for replacing the transmission fluid:

Looks to be the most thorough one I can find. Unless there's an easier one somewhere. Or maybe if I leave a case of transmission fluid on top of the car long enough it will replace itself.

That's a good one. Make sure you follow VIDA as well, especially for monitoring trans temp when verifying the level. Add 1/2 a quart after the level is set per the process.

This is the best tutorial for fluid change.

Alright. Thanks for all your help! I guess I'll report back after the dealership and I replace the fluid.

Anxious to hear the result. I'm optimistic and hopeful this will resolve your issue.

No the filter isn't serviceable.

Yeah you would have to take the transmission apart.

So you'd basically have to go through all the other steps first, when it could just be a clogged filter... Great. At least my warranty covers the vb.

Can clogged filters be "fixed" by doing ATF flushes? and can a clogged filter cause bad vb type issues?

If you have a clogged filter then you have overheating of fluid and premature wear on internal components. That tranny is a sealed unit and only that type of abuse could clog a filter.

A filter is a filter. Once filter media is used up, it needs to be changed. If you do ever change it. After you put it back, use an external filter to help with the longevity.
