that's just masking the problem.Oh man... Mine starts with 06A on my 2006. I dont have any hard shifts but I do have a light jolt right before coming to a stop. After I flushed the fluid it calmed down more tho

it is not a TF-80SC. It comes up as a variant in VIDA. like TF-81 or something...I'm sure it's the same transmission, but with different internals.
updated TCM software will give you that.Faster & firmer shifting

Absoultely NOT! All modules in your car get updated for free now as part of Volvo Service Advantage.yes

you can go in for a $20 tire rotation and they have to do it. ANY service. The software updates themselves ARE free though.pretty sure that's only if you're getting a service there. dont think you can go in anytime and have them do it

Stop spreading bull****. That is absolutely untrue. You apparently haven't been into a dealer in the last two years.unless it's mandatory/recall software update/upgrade , you will get charged for the software and the labor.
just print out the TSB, read it, and then tell them your car is exhibiting those problems. You don't tell them about the TSB at first. If they wont do it the first time, take it back, come back in a month and tell them the same though, and this time show them the TSB, so they know you mean business.See if you can get a tech to bull**** a report that it's bad and get it replaced ;D

90% of those warranties are complete crap. and you pay through the nose on the ones that are legit. We have people bring them into our shop all the time and we fill out all the claims only to be denied for some bull**** reason. Most legit warranties cost more than half what your car is worth. No need to bs. There's a Volvo technical service bulletin that addresses rough and slam shifts based on customer complaints. I'm considering an Omega warranty. Costs only a tad more than a vb replacement, but covers entire powertrain... I just need to see if the dealer has experience with them.

for the millionth time these kits and fluid flushes do not fix the PHYSICAL DEFECT with the valve body! All they are is band aids. We just did this job on an 06 R, you are looking at $800 (lol good luck) if you do it yourself or about $2k for a shop to do it. But the problem WILL be fixed!Install the TransGo kit - $200 + $100 in fluid and a day playing with your car. It's designed to fix these issues.

LOL....How difficult is it to do the valve body job at home? I have some wrenching experience, but mostly on older cars.
honestly, the latest TCM update with a new valve body provides crisp shifts. You clear the adaptations and fluid counter when you install the new valve body, then go to a dealer and get the Service 2.0 CAN updates and you will be set.So buy a new valve body and install the shift kit?

there is no ****ing way you can do this job for $1100 unless you charge something stupid like $40 an hour. The part is $800 and you are looking at at least 6 hours to do the job right. You can get a valve body repaired/installed for about $1100 out the door, whether it fixes the inherent issue remains to be seen. Otherwise, $2K for the shop to do a permanent fix, what's the ROI on that if I keep the car long enough to outlast two OEM valve body failures...

dealer didn't replace my transmission, they did the job according to the TSB, and they did it well cause it has been fine ever since. But dealer replaces the entire tranny AFAIK. I'm almost tempted in buying an extended warranty which would cost only a tad more than a replacement tranny, but then it would cover engine and other stuff... Ugh.

LOL....overhauled? The part is NEW. I would never get a remanned valve body to save $200 just so I can do the job twice. You need to source your advice better.I know for a fact you can get it done for $500-$600 overhauled, plus labor. You need to source your parts better.

the transmission is constantly adapting. you can certainly do that, but it is most important just to clear the adaptation and the fluid age counter. Both parameters are taken into account for adapting shift quality.Aisin Warner readaptation procedure is available on the sonax site. Involves shifting to n-d and n-r while parked, then allow acceleration to 80kmph and decel ten times.

SO overhaul labor is somehow magically cheaper? Because you have to get into it the exact same way. And saving $200 on a reman part would put you at $1800.....on a job that you or the next owner is going to do again. Then $2k for new sounds right, $1100 for repaired/overhauled also is right. Do you even source, bro? Lol
