Hey. I figured I would do a little catching up. First thing is I finally got George at ViVA to release one of his yellow collection last year. It needed to be saved in my eyes. I’m the 7th owner well documented (stacks about two inches thick). Good bones but needed some love. Started with an overall stage 0 kinda thing but found quite a bit more that just needed to be up to my standards. For those that don’t know I’m 48 years old,27 years now in a wheelchair disabled Marine. So my cars have to be reliable and very drivable. That started with fresh brakes all around and rear calipers oh and new parking brakes. Radiator had a small pin hole leak that I tried to find a Volvo one but apparently they don’t sell them anymore. So I went with Do88 $$$ but the best. Since I was in the area I went ahead and did the intercooler and a/c condenser. Yep already pricey. Oh well the things we do for cars. Drove it around. Needed more low so I went with H&R and again since I was in there I got Fcp euro whole front kit and shocks. Much better now. Went to the really cool show at Atlanta Motorsports Park called Why2K and actually got a win for best foreign film. Finally got some decent pics too. Still have a way to go but it’s a project after all.

Looks lovely.
The Special Delivery was part of the Tourist and Diplomat Service Volvo offered to overseas military personnel and Germany was one of their biggest markets. Other European car manufacturers were also offering similar savings at the time with their own version of the T&D scheme.

There were substantial savings to be made with the generous discounts Volvo (and others) offered along with lower VAT. Apparently if you bought 3 cars through the Tourist & Diplomat scheme and sold them to dealers in the UK you could make enough money to buy yourself a brand new car with the profits. Sadly the late 90s the authorities caught onto what was happening and the rules were changed and all new cars bought through the scheme had to be kept for a minimum of 6 months before being sold on. All the lock-ups, car ports and garages in and around the barracks were jammed with brand new cars waiting for the 6 month deadline to expire

Cars on the Special Delivery/Tourist and Diplomat scheme came with a dedicated handbook cover

I actually got the Sachs kit cause it's supposed to be like factory.
Let us know how they work out for you. The description says "not designed to be used with lowering springs". I'll be using these in my Red 850R with the stock springs. My black 850R with H&R springs will get the Bilstein B6's.

Glad to see this car has returned to the forum. One of my friends sent me a picture of it parked in Atlanta several months ago and I recognized immediately which one it was.

Well not the way I really wanted to do motor stuff in this car but I guess it does have 265k miles. It needed a new thermostat and housing unfortunately as my tech was doing that he found a couple other things. Like a cracked intake manifold and blown head gasket. The head was 20 thousandths out (whatever that means hehe) anyway I got one from machine shop and it was all freshened up with all seals and gaskets from Volvo. Well all the parts I waited for Volvo factory parts which take a while by the way. After a couple months she is all back tight and right.

Look at all those genuine Volvo parts! Looks legit.

Where are you getting parts that you had to wait a while for them to show up? I've ordered everything in these pictures, some many times, never with any of them taking longer than the normal delivery cycle to show up.

Well there may be a chance this wagon is going up for sale soon. I have a 501c3 that helps disabled drivers get into Motorsports and this car just not does not fit for what I need right now. It was a fun chase looking for it for 15 years. And I think that I have saved it for sure. I just have to make up my mind. Just a heads up for y’all to tell anyone you know that has been waiting for one.
