Interesting video below from a channel worth watching.

Considering the harm done by Volvo's poor choice in factory oil and maintenance intervals, this could be something that helps.

Certainly a gentler option than a chemical flush, which is the route I took to combat the oil consumption issue on my XC90.

I saw his video and had hope for those needing an easy, gentler solution. It will be great if this works for those who have caught up on their maintenance and still have oil consumption issues. I look forward to hearing from those who will try it and report back with oil analyses and oil consumption comparisons.

Someone thinking of using an engine flush and have caught up on the proper PCV & other maintenance, give this a try. With good results you might help a lot of other 3.2 owners with engines that had a history of poor oil change and are now having oil consumption issues.

I just changed the oil and filters on my 2011 XC70 T6 with ~93k miles and used this oil as I have been having moderate oil consumption issues and my PVC assembly looks to be recently replaced by the previous owner and is functioning correctly. Time will tell if it makes a difference.

I have been trying to source this oil in Canada. No luck so far.

I'm very curious on the results as more people start to try it!

The characteristics of a cleaning oil SOUNDS like HPL that the moderators of Bob is the Oil Guy have a fixation for. They really seem to push it over there which seems suspicious. But anyways it sounds that the Valvoline is slow acting - 4 oil changes - to do what it claims. Whereas I think HPL warns not use their oil in a 'dirty' engine because it will release too much, too fast. I'd like to fast forward a year fron now to hear the results. For how obsessed BITOG is there's few good reports with either oil. I think the Valvoline came out 6 months ago or so. HPL seems to be marketed towards varnish and Restore & Protect for piston cleaning.

Try a Cummins outlet. They're the ones who originally worked with Valvoline to develop it.

Or, Amazon.
I was thinking the same as you. My local Cummins outlet tried ordering the Premium Blue Restore Gen 2 variant (for a different vehicle) of this oil for me but they weren't able to.
I'm sure it's only a matter of time.

The Cummins oil is just called Restore, it's different than the new Restore and Protect. The oil analysis on the two are completely different and in no way alike. I'd be surprised if anyone can find the Cummins oil, by all accounts they stopped making it.

That's interesting, because it was developed to solve the same problem in big OTR truck engines.
Yeah the Restore is/was for cleaning out diesels, the Restore and Protect is for gas engines. Again the oils themselves are completely different and not related.

Yup, this info is also in the video originally linked in the first post in this thread and then also provided by you.

I just changed my oil to this in my 2015 v60 t5. Immediately the engine is smoother and after a few hundred kms I am noticing an improvement in performance. I have a small Oil burning issue and I’m hoping this resolves it. Definitely noticing a difference in such a small amount of time. Fingers crossed

Same here mate!!! I notice a difference instantly in how much quieter and smoother my engine was. After about 300km things again changed and I have heaps more power and it’s very noticeable. Was more response on the pedal too. I do have an upgraded intercooler and a tune on my car but I’m thinking that this stuff has fixed up the blow by I think was happening as I was using about 1 litre of oil every 1300km.
I am keeping my fingers crossed but so far so good and performance is there every day I drive it now. Made a massive difference.

unfortunately I haven't seen an improvement yet. I'm into the first fill, about 2200 miles now and showing over 1 qt...probably like 1.3. Valvoline says it can take multiple changes before improvement. They don't clarify what mileage that translates to.
