Man, I already think my XC90 is massive. With the third row down there is so much space in the back. I don't have to use my cargo box anymore when I go camping or skiing; everything fits inside easily as is.

Another population that has no need for a gargantuan land yacht....especially with their 2 child policy.

Work class there usually buy compact sedan, up to mid-size SUV, MPV, minivan.
But those richer than normal people want bigger SUVs. And they often hang out with people, so a 7 seater is great and more space is always better.

And comfort is very important. Many cars there have recliner rear seats, and many think Volvo rear seats are too upright. A 7 seater with recliner rear seats will be loved there.

Buutttt all they want are big SUVS and Long Wheel base sedans, for instance the s60 Inscription was made for them as we know.
Long wheel base is important as they have passengers (often senior on rear seats very often).
Big SUV is usually for richer people with private parking.

There is recent hint again on a bigger than XC90, and also a smaller SUV below XC40.
XC30 would be a good idea, haha. But I hope they don't give up the new S/V40.

Now that they may have resource to work on new models, I hope they stick to some interesting model for long time and create another legendary model.
For their wagon models, I hope they create a small wagon/hatchback V40/CC and merge V60 and V90 to one model for bigger wagon, V70/CC for example.
A more luxury interior of V70/CC could replace V90, and a simple practical trim to replace V60.

The V40/CC could be like Golf-R. XC30 could complete with audi A2, BMW X1, etc.

And also, a coupe/hardtop convertible on 60- platform.

if you need something bigger than a 90, you might want to consider downsizing yourself.

the most hilarious, and slightly gross, thing I see on the road is a single blonde chick driving a Yukon XL...absolute waste of resources.
Actually, we have kids and 8 grandkids and vacation multiple times per year in Michigan. We could use an 8 seater like we had with a previous Nissan Armada.....

I hope this is true. I love my XC90, but I also love my new 2019 Lincoln Navigator. Two of the best interiors (and exteriors) on the market right now in my opinion. There is nothing wrong with large vehicles.

If the ppl I see driving these have 5 kids we are doomed as a species.

Quite the contrary. Illegal immigrants are out-breeding us, we need more blond chicks with their Yukon XLs.

I would love a bigger Volvo. I am now trading in my Q7 for an X7. It's hideous-looking, but the experience inside is, imho, worth the trade-off.
I remember you left the XC90 for the Q7. What happened to the Q7???

Indeed, I moved from a T8 to the Q7. My better half took the Q7 recently. We had a kid leaving for college and taking her car. So she got mine and I get to buy a new toy!!!

But it's a testament to how much I liked the XC90, when it worked, that I am still lurking. I have not pulled the trigger on the X7 yet. I have never been so conflicted about a car. Every time I see it from the outside, I want to gauge my eyes out. But it's such an awesome experience once you get inside...

I still have the XC90 in Italy, going strong. It's a diesel and it's a hard sell, with new legislation coming.

So how many people will this new vehicle hold???

About a year ago, Volvo said it was not coming out with new models and that the goal was to move to electric cars. Unless that has changed, I cannot see them coming out with a Navigator-type SUV. If they do, Polestar should be included!

What Volvo said it will not make new gasoline-only models. All new models will be either mild-hybrid, or twin engine hybrid, (or some other sorts of hybrid), or EV.
Of course they will produce new models if resource allows.

This. If I take my two grandkids somewhere along with my kids still living at home, we don't have any room for luggage once the 3rd row is up. I bought a hitch mounted cargo tray but the problem is that the exhaust pipes are right there, so it's not a great solution.
