Maybe dealers don't want to stock wagons, as they didn't see much sales from V90/V90CC in past years, partially a result because V90 is only for custom order.
So we don't see V60/C60CC wagons stock, but American only buy cars from dealer's lot after seeing them.

Dealers are only going to stock cars that they believe that they can sell, and it's not just Volvo. Taking a look online at the closest Volvo, Audi and Merecedes dealers, my local Volvo has 10 V60/V60CC, the local Audi has just 1 A4 Allroad, and our local Mercedes lists just 5 E Class Wagons. There's also only 1 Buick TourX within 50 miles and 1 Jaguar Sportbrake.

But look how far South Korea has come. Samsung, LG, Kia, Hyundai? They were the laughing stock back in the days, but look at them now.
Yah, really, look at them now. Junk LG fridges, junk cars, cell phones that blow up, junk copy cat ramen, junkier approriated sushi, horrible stolen Chinese food.

The only thing Korean I allow onto my property is the Mrs, and on most days our half Korean kids.

Funny, but I do like to remind people how much reach Samsung and LG have in tech.

If you've got an Apple device then it's almost guaranteed that Samsung or LG made that screen. If you've got a good 4K television then LG made it.

Got a device with flash memory, and it seems like everything with a power button these days does? About half of that's made by South Korean companies, and the majority is from Samsung.

And, one more for fun, if you've got the Harman Kardon speakers in your Volvo (or one of the many other manufacturers that does)... guess what... Samsung owns that too.

Totally off topic, but I HATE the fact that we can't get wagons in the states. I think the V60 is being built here and we still don't see wagons.
It is because the Euro market see's the USA buying only SUV's and gas guzzlers apparently, so we are unfortunately not allowed to have certain models.

I like the fact that my 4 Volvos are all made in Sweden (last one OSD 2018 XC60 T6). Last one was OSD and I am looking forward to another OSD (XC90) next year before they switch to US production.
Yes there are some Volvos made in China, but I prefer made in Sweden, no major issues with the ones I have! I did rent an XC60 in May this year, It drove well no real issues, had one switch damaged with 4K miles on it. Could be renters could be something else, but to each his own......

"Apparently"......obviously.

V60 is a special order vehicle only. It is not on dealer lots.

The big issue with special ordering it's that it becomes difficult to use particular incentives. I bought my vehicle with the Costco deal and had to take one of the lot.

The sedan version is built in the states. Poster above it's correct that wagon is built in Sweden.

Oh, I'm definitely aware of the evil tentacles of the Korean chaebol(s). It's like legalized nepotism/emolument/corruption all rolled into one. I'm also reminded of Korean cultural affects ever time I open my fridge cause of old kimchi.

My 4k tv is not very good, hence it is not from Samsung.

Dealers don't want to pay interest all year a car that won't sell for months and then hope to break even. Zero incentive there... I have been in the car industry for over 10 years and still can't understand why a majority of people don't just factory order what they want.

They continue to be wrong about how to buy a car... They probably spend too much time on forums and reading Consumer Reports. =-D
Well, the trick is how to sell more cars to those who don't know how to buy a car.
It is not about teaching them how to buy a car. All shoppers hate to be educated. :)

the main reason why I don't always factor order (sometimes I do) relates to whatever incentives are in place. They had that sweet Costco deal a few months back. I had to take delivery before the deal expired, which took special orders out of the equation.

The second reason to not special order is you want to actually see and road test a car before you buy it There are no V60s on dealer lots in the states (there are cross country, but not the standard model).

And, with wagons vs. suvs, one issue in the states is that you often can't get all the options available on the sedan version. For example, one of my last vehicles was 3-series wagon and I had to take the base engine (instead of the more powerful drivetrain in the 335i) because that was all BMW would import to the states.

I really like my XC60. So, my guess is that I will either special order a V60 or special order an XC60 with the specific features I want next time around.

Your point is a good one though.

I think you and I have disagreed about CR in the past. My take is it is one source of information. Its a good source, but I don't have to agree with them. They always downgrade cars severely for having screen oriented infotainment interfaces (like SENSUS) and they make a big deal out of ride quality. I don't care that much about either issue and find the XC60 a lot of fun. I'm happy with the vehicle, regardless of whether the car folks are CR rate it low or high.

Wagons can be had (and I don't mean the CC version either). It just depends on your dealer and what they think they can sell. My local dealer has 11 V90 and 8 V60 wagons in stock. Another nearby dealer chain has 1 V90 and 8 V60 wagons. A plethora of wagons that will sell when the price is right.

Because salesfolks pressure them not to. Has happened to me multiple times - in fact every time I go to buy a new car and mention doing this, I get the hard sell not to.

Agreed. Every dealer I've been to tries to look up a car on their lot or other dealers' lot. I have to ask if I can place a factory order, because they certainly don't bring up the topic.
