XC90 T8 Keyless Entry Stopped Working and Car Won't Start.

I've noticed that my XC90 T8 wouldn't lock when pressing the pad on the door handles occasionally over the last few days. The system has now completely failed and the car will only lock/unlock by pressing the relevant buttons on the key. That's not the worst part, since the car is not 'seeing' any of my four keys it won't start either. I've put each key on the receiver in the center cup holder with no improvement.

I've disconnected the 12V battery for an hour or so with no effect.

Ideas anyone?

Sat here waiting for Volvo Rescue to come to the rescue but I'm not holding my breath! :angryfire:

Have you checked to see if there's a fuse dedicated to the keyless entry sensors that may have blown? Aside from that, I don't have any real ideas but I'm curious if you can remote start the vehicle using VOC? Does the rest of the vehicle seem to work? (Sensus, power windows, etc.)

All fuses seem ok...I can start the car via VOC. The rest of the car works normally - well as normal as it usually is lol. It's booked into my local dealer next week to have a list of other issues looked at.

The manual references interference and not putting anything other than one key in the tray.

Hopefully you got help from VOC by now.

Noted - thanks.

Rescue service was one of those independent guys who tow's cars from the motorway so no idea what to do with my car. Will wait for advice from my dealer in the morning.

I don't think they actually did anything - it's clearly an intermittent problem and they just got lucky as it worked whilst at there the dealers and long enough for me to get back home.

Documentation?

Well, my problems continue, over the past month my car has been backward and forwards to my local dealer as the central locking system problem continues to fail intermittently. I have decided to leave the car there until such time that they can assure me that it is actually repaired.

Volvo UK has provided me with a new T8 inscription in the meantime.

I'm unsure about how long to let this fiasco continue, should I demand the car be replaced? (since the problem has been going on for five weeks now and I have no confidence that it will be repaired successfully)

Don't be in a hurry to get yours back. Let them strip it out till they find the fault and you, in the meantime, enjoy the T8 fully and give us a detailed write up of your T8 experiences.

My car is still at the dealers, four weeks off the road now...not impressed.

I've put 3500 miles on the loan Xc90 T8, Volvo UK will not be happy :p

write back to Volvo and explain your frustrations (obviously)

the least they could do is give you another T8 or build a custom one to your liking and give you that. Even IF they fix this vehicle, it is obvious that there is something beyond normally wrong.

Volvo UK has sent a team of 'experts' to look at my car. They're telling me that my keyless entry problem is due to water ingress in the roof mounted 'shark-fin' antenna. They plan to replace this and assure me that my problems will then be over!

Apparently, this was a known problem on 2016 cars and should not affect 2017 cars, I guess I'm just unlucky...anyone had experience or heard of this issue?

Well, my XC90 came back after the 'experts' from Volvo UK repaired it and - guess what, it has failed again after only five days.

Am I being unreasonable to reject it?

Did they ever figure this out for you? I've been having a similar issue with the key sensor not detecting when I'm right at the door so I have to manually push the unlock or lock button on the key fob.
