Hello everyone, i bought a second hand Xc90 T8 last november 140k km of mileage. I got the car with winter tires and i was feeling some vibrations around 110km/h which i thought were the tires. So i got a new pair of Micheline crossclimate and now the car still vibrates at around 100km/h and more. You feel it in the seat and also just a bit in the steering wheel. Thats very disturbing. I rebalanced them twice but no improvement. I know this was discussed in other forums but i was never able to see a good solutions. Tried to get a video of how does it look

Do you have the summer and winter tires on separate wheels? If yes, switch back to summer tires. It’s March so you’ll be fine in the Netherlands. If the vibration is still present you have a problem with the suspension. If not, you have problems with the wheels and not the tires on your winter set.

Thanks for the reply, so i was running during the winter with the winter tires, now i have the summer ones. Yes i have 2 separate set of wheels they are same model. I will try to revert back to the winter tires as you said and see if the vibration is still there.

At steady speeds, and you feel it the most when the speed stabilize. I put back today the winter tires with thr winter wheels and vibrations is almost gone you can barely feel it or not feel it at all. So it means thats either the tires which were new micheline or the wheels. Will find out soon i guess

Yeah i'd definitely look for a bent/cracked rim on your summer set. I had this issue on my XC60 T8 and that's what it ended up being. The T8s are a little bit less susceptible to the driveline vibration issue that AWD ICE vehicles had.

Don't waste time and money. Best thing you can do is use the smallest rims your brakes allow, and best fatest tires your wallet allows. This will reduce but not eliminate the problem. Use the tires you have until the end, then sell the rims and go small. The looks will suffer, but its the price you pay. In meantime enjoy the vibration, don't waste to much money fixing unfixable. Some people just dont feel the vibration, the rest of us do.

Some winter tires are more susceptible to needing to be rebalanced as they wear. My winter tires didn't have a vibration at the start of winter but now after many miles without snow and warmer temperatures, they do cause a shake at highway speeds. The shaking is also more pronounced at the start of the day after being parked overnight as the "flat spot" in the tires goes away.

I have two sets of original wheels and one has winter tires and the other has all-season tires mounted. Easiest test would be installing the other set of wheels and seeing if there is a vibration. If both sets of wheels have a vibration and they have been recently balanced, the next step is checking for play in the suspension and also checking the brake rotors and separately the wheel hub for run out. The wheel hub being slightly out of spec can be causing shaking at certain speed ranges and not others.

I'm really amazed by the ignorance of volvo owners. Like they cannot read. This is not a new topic. Several topics were openned some were also erased... already. Nobody has yet solved the issue. Spa volvos vibrate. Maybe the halfshafts are low quality chinese.... only volvo knows what the have done ... customers are told this is normal.

In my case I had a vibration that went away completely when they replaced my bent rims. So, problem solved. Case by case, sure, but just trying to be helpful for the OP.

today i brought the car to the tire shop and i went for another pair of new tires and put them on the wheels that i had for winter. The car does not shake anymore and drives perfectly. So either the summer wheels or the other set of tires had something, which ill find out next winter. for now i can enjoy the smooth ride, thanks everyone for replying here, and enjoy your Volvos :)
