A brand new 2020 Volvo v60 T6 owner here from Canada... look for winter tires/snow tire. Wonder if anyone has experience of the Volvo winter wheel kits? Is it recommended to just purchase the Volvo winter wheel kit (functionality, quality and cost perspective), link below or shop online for oem rims and tires separately (save some $$$)? I would likely prefer

For quality and ease....this should be just fine. It will fit and there is nothing wrong with the X-Ice tires. Pricing is the bigger unknown on what the real world out the door costs are.

I have not been able to locate a decently priced set of OE 18” rims for my V60 yet. So very curious to see if others chime in here on price experiences.

Thanks! Wonder what rim and tires you have for v60 so far?

If asking what I have today...19” OE Rims with Pirelli P-Zero AS. The standard stuff for the US V60. They will “work” fine for basic winter duties where I live. We don’t get that much snow here. Usually greater than 80% of the time it will be snow free.
I had proper winter tires on my last car and it was amazing at the difference in handling in snow and ice. I also fear 19” rims during winter crappy road season.
There is another thread from the past month or two on here talking about winter tires and rims that has some info.

I just went through the exact same exercise. There are CDN retailers that can supply an original fit 18” wheel on the same Michelin X Ice Snows, for about 65% of Volvo’s ask.

Volvo put 19” snows on my car when I bought it, as I drive a mountain highway where snows are a must and I wouldn’t have purchased without them, Ultimately I purchased 19” direct fit winter wheels for $800 CDN. Happy with them overall, though I would have preferred an 18” package.

Cool, did you also get 19 inch rims for winter or just snow tires?
so the Volvo winter wheel kit is essentially overpriced? If possible, any link to find those retailers?

They put 19" snow tires so I could drive home with my All Seasons in the trunk. Thought of selling the winter tires and getting an 18" set up either through Volvo or other provider, thus where I discovered that info. Finally decided to just keep the 19" winters they gave me but move them to a winter wheel.

Heres the link of where I got the 18" package quote and a couple of pics of my current set up.

Good luck!

I had good luck on EBay got a set of take off 19s for $600 IIRC. They were not perfect but overall in great shape. Just kinda have to be patient as the prices vary a lot, there will be sellers asking for $300 per wheel. You can set up a search and have it e-mail you when new matching items are posted.

I’m picking up my 2020 V60 T6 tomorrow. The winter tire package from the dealer with Michelin X-ice and OEM 18-in wheels was $2899+tax. Sure to work, but pricey for wheels that will just get ruined by road salt anyways. I opted to buy Touren TF03 alloy wheels from Quattro Tire ($559+tax) and Continental Winter Contact Si Plus tires from Canadian Tire ($690+tax on sale). After getting a local shop to mount the tires on the wheels, I’m rolling for a total cost of $1500 (tax in).

I was able to find someone near me who sells OEM port take off rims for my V90 for pretty cheap. Take a look on eBay and see if you can find someone selling OEM wheels as it will guarantee they fit and are, IMO, generally better quality than aftermarket wheels. Between rims and tires I was in about $1500 with Nokian Hakkas for tires. The rims alone, if I bought them for a dealer, would have been around $2k plus another ~$1k for tires. So my setup cost about half what the dealer would have run me.

For folks in the states, I got my rims from Nick at Re-Volv in Oxford, MA. He ships so it’s worth reaching out to him to see if he has anything for the V60s now or will in the future.

I went with the winter tire kit (18" X-Ice tires and rims) from the dealer for my 2015 V60. Its definitely better to have narrower tires for the winter. My summer tires are 19" on different rims. The traction and ride is very good. Also, if you don't have the space at home, the dealer can store the tires for the season for a nominal fee, though I don't need this service.

There is actually a specific part number for take-offs. For instance, 8640903 is for the 18" V60 CC take-offs. I was able to do a parts search and got them for 800 shipped. Perhaps someone can fill in the other part numbers.

LM are perfromance winter tires in Bridgestone speak vs WS that are studless.
How do you like them? They seem to be released in 2009 so quite long time ago.

I just ordered a set of cooper winter tires from 4tires.ca with 18" steel. Concern about alloys handling salts...

will see how the set turns out.
I think I looked at this steel wheel option. Were they 18x7.5 et40? I was afraid that a narrower wheel with a similar offset to factory would make the wheels appear too far sunken into the fender well. For winter conditions, this probably isn't a bad thing as it would reduce the road muck thrown onto the bodywork. Post some pictures when you get them mounted!
