I think Volvo is missing an opportunity to add some spice back to an aging line, the S80. If the 6 speed auto will fit with the T6 they need to put it in there - and and addition offer an AWD Sport version with 4C with a bump in power (300HP and 300 or lb of torque ?).

I would imagine the next stop for the V8 after the XC90 will be the S80, although by the time that happens we may be looking at the new generation S80 in '07.

I believe that the 6 speed auto will not fit in the engine bay properly. That is why the XC90 T6 only has the 4 speed auto unit as well. If there would be room, the 5 speed GT would have been in already.

I believe that the 6 speed auto will not fit in the engine bay properly. That is why the XC90 T6 only has the 4 speed auto unit as well. If there would be room, the 5 speed GT would have been in already.

I think the new 6 speed for the XC90 V8 would fit and is designed to handle the tq of the V8.

Of course it will. It already does (in the XC90). The same drivetrain will be in the next S80.

Don't you think they would have done it if they could? But it cannot be done. The current T6 engine would be just awesome with the 6-speed Geartronic.

Don't you think they would have done it if they could? But it cannot be done. The current T6 engine would be just awesome with the 6-speed Geartronic.

coupe versions of C40R or C50R or four door S40R
But I dont see any movement in that regard, and it seams that this would not happen before the new S80 is out with a powerfull engine to give to the S60R an upgrade option.
If the S80 would take 2 years from now, that means beguining of 2007, the next S60 would take at least another year 2008
Is that mean that we would not see any other small R version in the next 3 years?

A Volvo Master tech told my he saw something from Volvo re: dropping a V8 into the S80 in a year or so. He said it will be the block from the Taurus SHO.
