Trying to find best place to find VOE adapter or equivalent. Most online parts store I tried now list the 9513108 VOE adapter as discontinued. A few others I tried canceled my order after, saying they could not get that part and sell it (eg. volvopartsca.ca took my order, now updated site to "discontinued").

Has the part # changed or something?

I tried the cheap amazon/aliexpress ENET rj45 to OBD2 cables but Vdash wouldn't detect it (https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07M5P9WLP?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details).

Only place I could seem to find was Volvo's official tool store for US/Canada (Volvo Special Tools), but that was the most expensive one. Any al

Any help is appreciated.

Volvo of Victoria (volvopartsca.ca) took my online order and cancelled it afterward saying it couldn't sell it. Volvo Toronto doesn't list it at all on the parts catalog. My local dealer (Ottawa) told me they simply won't sell to individuals. When I first tried to puchase it a few months ago online, I remember the USA parts store were listing it as an item (like Tasca), but now all list it as "discontinued" on their website.

I placed an order on d5T5.com but my credit card company and my bank refused to follow through and blocked transactions given the unusual location and somewhat shady business front. Looks like I will buy it from the Volvo official tools store. 15$ CAD higher than from D5T5, but a more trusted source I guess! Crazy that a simple adatper is being sold for 100$ CAD though... At that price, it better have an Apple logo on top of it!!

You should be able to use any doip (diagnostics over ip) capable obd2-Ethernet adapter. They’re very common for bmw modification work. I don’t think there’s anything special about the Volvo cable, correct me if I’m wrong?

I don't know if the Volvo one has anything special about except proper build quality?

I tried an Amazon cable that was labelled as Enet for BMWs, but Vdash wouldn't detect anything. Was worth a try with Amazon's permissive return policy. Other one (red) posted above from eBay is also what looks like a homemade cable/adapter from a suspicious source. With no easy return policy, and at 30-40$ CAD less than the VOE one, I'm questioning taking the bait on that knockoff...

When I got the DICE knock off almost 10 years ago, it made so much sense given the OE tool was 1k+ vs 200$ or so for the good quality DICE back then. But for 30-40?

I picked up the eBay cable above : 7 ft VOE OBD to Ethernet Adapter Volvo SPA CMA Platform Vehicles 9513108 9513062 | eBay and it is fairly simple in constriction. About $2-$3 in parts, with no active components.

Ethernet cable T-568b wiring:

Well that’s some pretty amazingly craptastic construction there.

I’m morbidly curious as to what mine looks like now. I suspect I’m going to have to go in there and maybe epoxy pot the wiring or something to make sure it doesn’t lose connection at an inopportune moment.

I really hope that the OEM adapter has better construction.
