Where’d my ETA go?

Like many of us I was thrilled when Google maps started showing the number of miles left and the ETA in the instrument cluster. Like many of you I recently did the 3.3.16 update. And now the ETA is gone from my instrument cluster.

Does anyone know if there’s a way to get it back? Should I call Volvo and complain?

Yes, it went away for everyone. There's no toggle for it (though that would be ideal). While I do think Volvo bears responsibility for the overall product, the Google Maps app isn't developed by Volvo. That's on Google to update and make compatible with the car with all the features that are intended. It should be resolved with a fairly simple app update on their part.

Not trying to be rude, but you'll probably get laughed at if you call a Volvo dealer to complain. What actually might help though is having everyone submit bug feedback through the app (this goes for all issues):

The more people send in reports of things wrong, the higher the chance they'll get looked at.

Good idea!

I've already sent them a message, and I also told them that the Waze app should be displayed on that screen and that it should also warn about hazards like it does on the mobile app, since on AAOS it doesn't warn about radars, and the rest only does it with a "Ding!" instead of saying what the hazard is.

I know it's not really Volvo's thing, but if we all complain and they see that it's something that matters, I suppose Volvo might get in touch with the app developers and fix it, they'll have more power than us to do so.
