What did you do to your car today?

  • Tried to service the Haldex, but failed hard. Was unable to unscrew the drain-plug (if its the hex socket) so i just changed filter, pumped out all the fluid possible through the filler port and refilled with new oil.
  • Changed transmission oil
  • Started to swap the powersteering fluid but couldn't finish due to:
  • starting to disasseble the engine bay for the timing belt service
  • Changed thermostat
  • Cleaned throttle body
  • Cleaned all removed plastic covers from the engine bay.

Tomorrow the tmining belt will be changed and in a few days i'll flush the engine oil twice and refill with good oil.
And i have to clean or better swap out the oil trap... holy moly it looks ugly

@Joshude The underside of my oil cap never looked that bad but the only time I got that gunk was when I was adding Castrol GTX (not a full synthetic) and wasn't on top of my oil burn. Gotta make sure to use a full synthetic and check your dipstick at least every 1k miles to make sure you're topped off on oil.
Thanks! I'm going to flush the engine with Oilem PowerFlush (add the additive, let the engine run in idle for 15 minues, remove oil), then flush again with clean oil for a few hundret kilometers and then fill the final oil (in my case Ravenol RCS Racing Competition Synto SAE 5W-40). Hope that'll help!
Maybe renew the whole PCV-Case.

US $15.45 40% Off | 2PCS Dynamic Turn Signal Light LED Rearview Side Mirror Sequential Blinker Indicator Light For Volvo S40 S60 S80 C30 V50 V70
Do you - or anybody else - know if those are available without the dynamic stuff? Looking for new side indicators. My glass is yellow-ish and i want LED.

they fit both fyi.
Really?
Nice, I've always thought that they're different, because you mainly find indicators for the years after 2007, so i guessed they have to be different.
So, 2005-2012 share the same indicators in the mirrors, right?

yeah no... with that picture it's quite clear that the lenses are way bigger than pre-facelift.

Also here's a good comparioson:

Yesterday i've started the head gasket change. Today i was at the point where i could losen the head bolts and broke 3 tools. A Stahlwille 3/8 to 1/4 adapter, a rather cheap 14mm socket and my 14mm deep socket for plugs.
Went to buy 5 new 14mm sockets but managed to get the last 5 head bolts lose with just one.

There is no difference.
There is. Even the part number is different.
At least for EU models. Maybe it's different in the US. I remember that you were not aware, that pre face-lift models have the dtsc option in the EU, so maybe that's another difference.
