Okay folks, I was considering posting this in an Infiniti forum but I figured this is the best place. So here we go.
I leased a 2014 Infiniti QX60 and upon my lease ending, I test drove the 2017 QX60, 2017 Acura MDX and the 2017 Volvo XC90. To me, the MDX was very similar to the QX60 (which is not a bad thing) so my wife and I ruled it out. Here are my pros/cons of the QX60 vs XC90:
QX60 Pros
- Third Row Access. Yes, it's good. However I got the integrated booster seat in the XC90, so I don't need third row access (with 3 young children).
- Direct Access Media/Nav Buttons. I love the capability to check the 360 camera with a simple button.
QX60 Cons
- CVT. It sucks. Next.
- Fuel economy: average 14 MPG in city driving. Seriously?
- The technology is really 10 years old
- Small details:
Rain Sensor? Sucks on the QX60.
Heated SW/Seats: seriously, initial settings are way too hot and there's no automation.
XC 90 Pros
- Styling.
- Engine/Transmission: great. Just great.
- Technology: we get CarPlay, USB ports, internet connectivity, mobile phone car control.
XC90 Cons
- Premium Fuel?
- Why can't I get the 360 camera with a simple press of a button? [Swipe left, press button, press button]
- Small details:
No sunglasses holder on a $60k car?
Conclusion:
The QX60 is not a bad car, but it feels outdated and has a terrible transmission. Styling is subjective: the XC90 feels more upscale.
