Hey,

Im trying to connect to my 2004 Volvo V40 2.0T using Vida and JLR Mongoose j2534 cable.

Is it even possible, because I have to put my VIN manually and fault trace is grey on diagnostic tab.

Im using Vida on VM with official drivers.

Thanx Lenkka

It works for me. But I haven't tried it on a car from your generation. Is it possible that you actually need VADIS to read your car?

I use that cable and VIDA frequently on my P2s and P1. I think it never worked on a P80, which might be similar to your car.

Here is the install guide from Mathew site, I dont have link, but I have saved long ago to my notes:

Vida Setup

Works OK for me on Windows 10. I swim around in virtual machines and SQL all day, so I was able to do multiple test runs of the installation on a fresh Windows 10 without wiping a hard drive and reinstalling. Also dug into the SQL scripts to discover a few details I haven't seen in other posts.

(read this if you don't know what a magnet is, pay special attention to the qBittorrent and VPN paragraphs)

  1. run "Turn Windows features on or off"
  2. enable .Net 3.5 and IE11
  3. run services.msc, stop the "World Wide Web Publishing Service" and set its startup to manual
  4. reboot
  5. mount the ISO (double click it)
  6. Run script 1 (right-click it and run as admin)
  7. Run script 2 (as admin)
  8. NO REBOOT at end of VIDA install
  9. DO NOT RUN Script 3
  10. extract the .ZIP file to whatever temp folder you want, Run the .EXE
  11. extract to C: (because it unzips a folder structure into the "VIDA" folder already on C:, and don't worry about the error that says something is missing)
  12. Run script 4
  13. reboot

You have to run Edge in IE mode, which may nor may not turn itself off after 30 days. The login is just the number "2" for North America.
