Would anyone know if there 17"×7.5 Thor rims would work on R's? I'm thinking about using them as winter tires.

Thanks

Hi Romanas,

A little slow getting back to you - sorry. i didn't really notice a big difference with the wheel/fender fit compared with the 18 in Pegs that I use for the summer. The track may have increased slightly but nothing serious. I have the stock suspension. The one problem I have had with the adaptors was that a few of the wheel bolts kept loosening. I'm not sure what the problem is but I ended up having to carry a big extension bar and socket to re-tighten the bolts regularly. Possibly the aftermarket bolts weren't seating properly or the rims weren't completely centred on the carriers. We'll see what happens this winter but hopefully all should be well. I got the adaptors and bolts on Ebay and while the adaptors are well made I'm not completely happy with the bolts - definately not as good as the stock ones.

FYI, i tried the 18' XC90 Atlantis wheels

Sadly, they do not fit, it's not even close
They dont clear the caliper and have to run crazy wide spacer (more than 25mm) to even get them on.

So be carefull with "Anything can be fitted"!

The R calipers arent cleared easily.....

Guess it would be helpfull if there was a sticky with wheel options for the R accompanied with needed spacers.

That sucks. I wonder if the Atlantis are designed thicker, with smaller inner diameter to better support SUV's. They also seem to have different hub bore and are also narrower, 17x7 so I guess an offset of 49mm would mean more, would need different spacers than the same offset on a 17x7.5" rim.

I'm thankful to Bruce for confirming the Thor worked for him with pretty much the same setup I have, coming from 18" Pegasus to the same 17" Thor rim, I have confidence it will work for me.

But totally agree, inner rim diameter is crucial with these Brembo calipers on the R's. Bolt pattern, rim outer diameter and hub diameter is not enough proof a rim will work.

Also spacers sizes need to be calculated for each rim type.
