Yesterday I got Volvo Roof Box. This is how it looks like if anybody wondered:

Very nice quality. It has net and straps included to secure cargo. Also there is a small battery powered LED light, which is nice when it is dark. Big plus for sound deadening mats inside the box. No any rattles etc.

Just checked if the car will fit in my garage. Entrance is 205 cm and remaining gap is +/- 5 cm.
I have air suspension and car was in comfort mode. In dynamic I should gain extra 2 cm gap.

Do you or anyone know if this roof top box will fit older Volvo models? The clamp looks like it will clamp onto just about any type of aerobar. I just don't know the range of which the clamps can be adjusted. Does anyone know the maximum and minimum range of the mounting clamps? I would like to fit this box onto my Volvos and/or minivan.

It holds the majority of my camping gear and leaves the rear for my Golden Retriever. 3 sleeping bags, 3 mattresses, 6 person tent, small folding table, and 4 camping chairs with room to spare.

Why do that when a fraction of the cost can provide for a really nice used Yakima or Thule? I paid 200 bucks for a nice one, with keys. Maronha paid similar and it came with load bars he sold to offset the cost even more. Two pretty OREs in your signature - I'm sure the cash would be mice to save for USE at the beach! Bethany? VA Beach? Outer Banks?

This one is about 10 minutes away from me at 200 bucks.

This one's in Merrifield (north of Fair Oaks) at 450 bucks:

For comparison, while they are a bit more expensive, you will not find anything with better construction than Packasport. I have the Journeyer on my XC60 and, imo, looks far better than anything else I've seen. Especially with a nice coat of wax on it. Marine-grade fiberglass, which does not photo-degrade and can be patched is one of its biggest selling points. Most of the others on the market don't have the same level of durability and repairability.

Da-Damn! People be livin' in another world from me. $4k for a roof-top box??? Even if I haz lotto-winnings money$, and purchased an RS6 Avant with ceramic brakes and all the other fun options, I can't believe that a Thule Vector wouldn't be "good enough"! 😳

Practicallity is fairly individual. I find the u-bolt system on my Thule Aero bars works great. Accessing things from the rear poses no issues. Having something that doesn't degrade in the sun and is repairable, to me, makes it a better purchase than a Thule. That said, to each their own - some people like the T5, others the T6. I certainly wasn't trying to get into a pissing contest, I was simply communicating what works for me and clarifying that the vast majority of their cases, minus one, don't cost $4000. At the end of the day, each person has to get what works best for their individual situation.

One benefit of Thule is that if you're using Volvo OEM racks - you can match locks so that one key takes care of the box and racks. If you have Thule bike racks - same thing. I like that - YMMV. And the new system for locking on the racks is fast and simple - I have a box lift in my garage and I can go from bare roof to box in about 10 - 15 minutes by myself.

Have to admit, some of the Thule's are pretty flimsy feeling - but I've never broken any... yet (or any other box for that matter). Right now I have a Thule Motion Alpine - it's a good box and solid when locked - but when you raise the lid - it loses a lot of structural integrity. I've actually put stickers on the inner lid saying "Don't grab here" - so that anybody loading anything won't grab and break something. The new Thule Vectors are built a little more solidly. I've also had Yakima racks and boxes - they're also a little more solid than the Thule's. For me - Thule won on volume/low height/features, but it IS a delicate box when you're loading.

Does anyone know the part number for the white (Ocean Race) Volvo roof top box? $900-1000 seems like a bargain compared to Packasport.

Here Part Number: 31664474 Volvo Ocean Race

I think it's the same model only black:

Anyone selling their ocean race box? Or where I can possible find one for sale. I know they're discontinued which makes it difficult to find one. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
There is one for sale on the car in Ontario, Canada. Maybe the dealer wants to part with the Box only for some $.

(the picture son autotrader shows the box on it)

I was looking for one (hence m'y alerts that saw this one)

But now I much prefer the Skiguard and that is what I will buy and wrap/paint.the Skiguard sits even lower (the crossbars are through the box) and has less noise from what I read.

On my 2018 without air suspension and with newly installed load bars my XC90 stand about 6'3" tall from the load bars to the ground. My garage entrance is 6'11" and my Thule cargo box is about 12" tall. Man, no way I can put my cargo box on AND still fit in the garage. :(
