I replaced the 12V battery and reset the 12V battery status with VIDA. I reseted the Volvo On Call system and its battery. It's been 2 weeks and it hasn't shown any error again nor has the 12V battery run out (I've had the car parked for 1 week and it didn't died)

Took it to the dealer and they said I need to replace the VCM battery. Been searching online and can not find where the VCM battery is located on my '17 XC90. I found the battery cheaper online and would like to attempt changing it myself.

Also is there anything else required to do after changing the battery?

Thanks for any help this community can provide.
How long is auxiliary battery warranty?

the software update is required to reset the internal countdown inside the VCM. The VCM is designed to start alerting after 8 years of usage.
This is correct.

How are you able to reset the voc system?

I ordered a new VCM backup battery and replaced the original, and as was the case with yours, the message is still showing up every time I start the car. Let me know if you were able to resolve yours with a software update.
From my experience just going through the same on a 2017 V90CC you must get the software update to reset the warning message and the only way to do it is through the VIDA software system, which is largely a dealer thing. (I called independent shops in the Seattle area and found none who used it). I replaced the battery myself and had the dealer reset the software and the problem has disappeared. Perhaps I’ll see it again in 7 or 8 years.

I was having the "Volvo OnCall Service Required" message, and my parasitic drain, where my car would go totally dead after 2-3 days of sitting. Dealer replaced the VCM Battery, aux battery and main battery. The message went away but the car is still experiencing a parasitic drain.

Any thoughts or suggestions?
Parasitic draw is a software problem with the
Rdar which is the Sirius module. If you look up parasitic draw on this community you will find you can add a most loop and unplug the serous module or you can pay to get a software update even though Volvo has a class action lawsuit over it.

Wrong cars bud. The parasitic Sirius draw was present in P2 and P3. Not SPA
