Volvo grill "sash/emblem" removal question....

My emblem on the grill took a direct hit by a rock and I was wondering if the brain trust out there has any experience removing the sash altogether? Hopefully this is easier than it looks. I'm also thinking that the grill sans sash might look a bit cleaner as well... Thanks in advance for any guidance and/or photos.

Others can chime in with first hand experience, but I do know that it is removable and the result looks like a$$. The grill has tabs and such where the slash attaches to and that's what you end up seeing.

If you do junk your slash, did the thin black inserts survive? This piece. I am looking for one.

i have a 'blue' volvo emblem on my desk right now. if it is just the volvo logoed emblem it is just an adhesive placed stick on within the 'sash'.

the sash is not something i have removed, however, the volvo emblem is to be pryed (sp) off and replaced by a new one.

seems simple enough.

edit; myswedishparts.com has all the pieces, as will your local dealer. from the sash, to the volvo emblem within it, as well as the washers that hold it all together. my cost for the emblem was about 10 bucks, the entire sash component was about 25 i think.

fwiw the emblem for the 'blue' volvo is 30882392 and it is made in the usa.

there is also a black one, where the volvo has a black background vs the blue that has volvo on a blue field.

I've had the grill off before. It's very easy, and takes maybe 10 minutes. Open the hood... remove the 5 tabs that hold the bumper (you can see these clips after openning the hood)... use a butter knive / or 7" small neck screw driver / or bone tool... and pick the tabs that hold the grill on. You can pull all the pieces off once the grill is off. You can see the taps that hold the grill on by just pulling up on the bumper once you have the clips off that hold the bumper on... and looking at the back side of the grill.

I might have a spare slash for you if you want it. I took my Evolve bumper off and put the stock back on. The grill I ordered had the slash and "R" included. So, I need to travel back home next week and see if I still have the extra slash and "R" I through in a box.

So naked...SOMETHING needs to be there if the stock grill is going to stay.

Actually that picture is all I needed to see, thanks! I didn't realize the mounting holes would be that prominent after removal of the slash/piss, whatever! Although I like the look of the grill sans slash, much cleaner, I think I'll just pop in a new emblem and call it good.

Thanks again, you guys are great

I'm glad I subscribed to this thread. That way I got emails of petew's replies explaining "slash" before they were censored.
