I think this is obviously a different car inside and out than the SPA, CMA and SPA2 Volvos. The SPA2 Volvos are immediately identifiable as Volvos. This looks like something else from the exterior. The interior lacks the signatures of the SPA2. Some members here don't like the SPA2 interiors and don't find them elegant. I disagree and have the opposite opinion. I don't see the two screens as the full interior. So I think, though I wish they had less functions in the screens and used hard buttons for some functions, that the updates to the EX90 from the XC90 are elegant and the cars look sleek and modern and clean, what I expect from Volvo. The backlight pattern is subtle. This EM90 lacks that clean, Scandinavian look because it isn't at the core a Volvo design. If you like it better, fine. But if you like Volvo for Volvo qualities, then you like Polestar because they're similar to Volvo, and you feel like making a Zeekr, a nice enough car but different than Volvo, the style base for a Volvo is not a good thing even if it is designed for China.
What bothers me is how lazy Volvo was here. They made the EX30 into a Volvo. The materials, the layout, the details, all are faithful to Volvo principles (yes, even removing the driver's display because Volvo does wacky stuff like that). But Volvo did none of that with this vehicle. And this was designed during the Sammuelson era. Maybe Shanghai Volvo put a few small touches on it but Sammuelson and Co. approved this as well as the very different EX30.
