Re: Volvo Best Selling Ford Brand in Japan (Ozvol)

Volvo on the other hand does very well in the Japanese market. I remember seeing people driving them around Tokyo....

..i remember seeing one blasting down a wet road on a rainy night at 1 AM. That thing was going at least 140km/hr. 850 or V70 wagon, black.

Apperantly, the Tokyo police stop enforcement after midnight and don't resume until 7 AM.

From midnight to 7 AM, you are free to do whatever you want.

I was in Japan twice on business this past year and saw many 850/V70 Wagons...very nice too...a lot of accessories and options not offered here. Due to lack of space with parking, they all had the automatic retracting side mirrors...in otherwords, when you turn the key to the off position, or with a switch, the mirrors would fold in towards the car....wish our U.S. models had this.

Ummmm, not true about the cops stopping their patrolling after midnight...saw plenty of them out in the wee mornings, and there seems to be a "cop box" on about every other corner. Funny thing though, most cops don't carry a gun....just a stick.

Re: (MadeInJapan)

The retracting side mirrors is a std feature on MOST japanese/European cars for markets other than the USA

I recall seeing it on the cheapest Toyotas or Nissans in the Carribbean and Asia(Japan); I notice that the new '03-04 LS430 now have them here http://********************/smile/emthup.gif . The irony is, the folding mirror feature is viewed as a "luxury feature" here, while cars to the carribbean view air-bags as a luxury feature there
