WOW..

Confirms my theory. Our current AAOS cars are dead and will not get significant improvements with next updates. Happy they fix the road sign info for newev models, my model built earlier will still have this issue. :(
This update is mostly related for under-the-hood updates and it's a gigantic one by those standards. I look forward to it.

I highly doubt this will come anytime soon considering how few apps there are on AAOS. I'm a bit disappointed in the platfrom tbh but I guess my expectiations were too high. The only really good app is Google Maps but it has no limitations because Google controls it. 3rd party developers have big limitations and therefor development is slow and almost none-existent on the platform.

Spotify works but is also very basic imo, you can't even see the full title of a podcast or read the description on AAOS.

I have higher hopes for AA support now, with the release of 3.0.3 this will hopefully become available before the summer. At least that will enable WhatsApp support, ETA sharing in Google Maps, split screen and many other features. Although less integrated with the car, I don't see AAOS ever reaching the same functionality that AA offers. For my daily commute, AA will suffice and for the longer roadtrips I do maybe twice a year I will still use GM on AAOS for navigation.

There's definitely some differences between the Android and iOS phone apps. At least on my Samsung S23, the only notification that is selectable is software update info and support chat.

Hoping for more soon, but it's not really a big deal.

I have the exact same options on iOS (iPhone 13, app version 5.39.0, app notifications enabled). I wonder why some are able to get charge complete notifications?

I didn't think this warranted a new post, but as one of the first to have access, here’s a very quick lightning review of software 3.0.3. We have 3 Volvos: 2023 V60 Polestar Engineered, 2023 V90 Cross Country, and a 2024.5 XC60. I updated all 3 this morning without issue, except a permanent DTC on the XC60 that has no explanation.
  • First, most operations do seem a bit snappier. The overall booting of the infotainment system is noticeably quicker across all 3 cars.
  • Other than larger text for cellular connectivity, there’s no real UI changes. Menu text seems a bit sharper. There’s a new elastic effect (similar to your smartphone) when scrolling and you hit the upper or lower limit. While Android Automotive was updated, one has to remember that the UI is Volvo-built and runs on top of the core OS. It appears they ported it over without changes. All apps work as they did before.
  • I did notice some text clipping in the Play Store when updating apps on all cars. Lowercase letters “g” and “y” are cut off. There are also some instances where the divider lines are different thicknesses. You can see this under “Privacy” in one of my pictures. I don’t think it’s intentional, but perhaps it is.
  • The Messages app is interesting. iOS hasn’t played the best with AAOS but 2 recent messages did appear. I haven’t tried the voice assistant upgrades yet or validated if Google Assistant can interact with other apps.
  • Some of the updates targeted our MY24.5 XC60 and I personally never saw an issue with road sign recognition (our car has ISA) so I can’t provide any useful feedback there. I can say that the estimated electric range on both hybrids jumped but that may adjust lower with continued use.
  • There were no cluster updates and the graphics and functions there remain unchanged. No media information added.
  • This is more of a foundational update than a feature update. Android Automotive 12 is a slightly fresher OS that’s still supported and many other OEMs are building on it. This should provide Volvo (and Polestar) with better tools and APIs. SPA/CMA cars are still very much supported and launched AAOS. The Google partnership is still important to all parties.
Any questions?

Looks like my XC60 B5 MY2022 will need to get the update via the dealer. 😞. It was built earlier in the year 2022. I am located in the USA. So it’s not the same for others.

Your B5 (and all earlier B5s) will be able to receive OTA after the next SW update in late May 2024. Cars with SW version 2.5 and earlier will need to get a VIDA SW update first (at no charge). Then they will be able to receive future SW updates via OTA. Early B5 cars with SW version 2.6 or later should automatically receive future OTA software updates, starting with the May 2024 release.

Your link is the same for me.
Google pulled up this link for me, which doesnt have the B5 text.

The only difference between those 2 links I can see is that mine has "10375” vs yours, "10365"..
I guess this is a mystery.
I’ve noticed
Ok, so I found your link from Google as well. Another difference with my link it has a drill down of my model year and make and your link does not. It seems more general. I hope it's your link! :) The last time I went to the dealer for an update, they tried to charge me and I had to explain the whole B5 issue and show them a previous email stating it was complementary.

For what it's worth, I've always noticed inconsistencies between the AAOS update info on the website vs what's shown in the iOS Volvo vs what's shown in AAOS

I've seen a few people report higher battery range estimate. I'm assuming it's maybe just that the system calibration reset itself, but who knows. Maybe this is some of the "drivetrain optimization" at work. :p

My V60 reported 48 miles (77km) the other day, today it reported 45 (72), this is all on 2.14.4. The garage temperature was different each day, I figure that was the difference.

I tried Waze on AAOS...it used this awful voice that was loud and grating, so I had to turn it off. That also changed the voice on my iPhone's Waze through CarPlay...I have been using the Google map the past few days since that, though I think I have the settings back for Waze. You can change the voice on the phone, I didn't see an option for that in the car. I may just wait until 3.0.3 to try it again, that voice was really, really awful.

I'm hoping that they add the ability to join a hidden wifi network at some point...I hide my network SSID so the car can't find it to join it, but there's no way I've found so far to input a hidden SSID. I may have to expose the SSID long enough to join the car to the network and then hide it again, the car should still be able to see it after that. It's a pretty normal thing to have the capability to join a hidden network, a bit frustrating that this is missing.

I also found that the option to close the sunroof screen automatically 15 minutes after locking the car does not work, the screen always remains open...that's a bug, hopefully it gets fixed in the new version.

One quick tip for 3.0.3. After you update, if your vehicle has harman/kardon or Bowers & Wilkins premium sound, toggle your sound setting modes in Settings -> Sound.

On our 3 cars with B&W, after the update, the surround processing reverted to "Studio" mode even though the UI showed "Stage". Toggling between them restored the sound mode. I knew something was off until I did this.
