WOW, that took less than 2 years to get a functioning car back!

Are you not able to do the update over-the-air without a dealer visit? Eager to hear if this is available over the air for B5s as that's not working in the past

 

Any idea if this update does anything to FIX PERMANENTLY the battery drain issue and dead vehicle issues with 2022 XC60 B5?

Apple Maps is now available in the center display.

Im confused by this one. Do they mean Apple Maps will be available on the drivers display? It’s always been available on the center display via Carplay.

 

Actually when you plan a trip with car play the drivers display is empty. If you don’t plan a trip and if you use Carplay the map in the driver display is Google.

Just chatted with Volvo support in the app, they noted that this update isn't yet on the US support page so not sure when we'll get it and they didn't have info if it would work OTA for B5/B6

 

Really glad they are reactivating the left side steering wheel buttons to switch between pilot assist and no pilot assist.

Yes, you are right, the Pilot Assist and Adaptive Cruise Control mode has finally been restored on the steering wheel (as I had in the T6 Sensus 2021).
Let's hope Volvo manages to restore the drive select on the home page or with the keys sooner or later. Now it's a dangerous operation, 4 clicks on the central monitor to change driving modes or charge the battery, I find it all absurd and dangerous.
Hopefully also a simple Mp3/Mp4 reading through the USBC, like all cars on sale.

 

Just a little caution, in the fine print of the ota 2.9 it will OVERWRITE any 3rd party app, if it deems necessary, in a nutshell this means even if you have got a app from the authorised google play from volvo and it just so happens to let you have full google/youtube acccess etc, chances are it will be overwritten.

 

This looks legit. Hopefully it fixes all the instability with 2.7. Since 2.7 stability has been crap and have had to restart every few days.
Feature list is exciting! Stoked for cluster and hud enhancements. Now if only they’d ship driving journal and show now playing on cluster.

 

I'm not disputing your experience but what you are decibel is unusual. I've not had any stability issues since 2.7. Not to say the system is bug free but 2.7 hasn't made it more or less unstable.

 

Also it will need tpms light reset with new update

 

I would love to get my real time traffic back on the drivers display.

And on the other hand it sounds rubbish. Great if you have adaptive cruise, I don't, great if you have an IPhone, I don't. Wish they would improve the Google stuff the car runs on rather than pander to Apple stuff 😢

 

I hate everything apple. But i use an older iphone (iphone 11) to be able to have carplay functionality also (one of my family members upgraded to a newer model). It works very well.
At least until they implement android auto. It's also very good if you don't have the car's gps or LTE working (sometimes the gps and LTE come up with a certain delay). Happends once in a while. It's a backup.

It’s good to see those functions coming through for people that have been waiting for them.

However, I would sacrifice them all just to have Volvo include Left/Right Balance & Front/Rear Fader Controls, on my High Performance Sound system, that they very stealthily removed when the OS moved from Sensus to AAOS.

To this day, the only thing I listen to is ‘talk radio’ as music quality without balance and fader control is crap.

 

Harman Kardon doesn't have the "L/R - F/R controls" in AAOS... So that's also a 'No'.
You can have 'ideal sound' for driver, all or back row. That's it. I think the only 'extra' regarding the High Performance Sound is the Surroundsound-effect-toggle.

Functional left side arrows for "cruise control modes" and apple maps in the drivers display (even though i don't use them), SWEET. Now, get us some new cluster gauges (or customization options) and "now playing" feature in the 3.0 and i'll be beyond happy.

 

If I have the car icon in Volvo apps, and for software it has 2.9, does that mean I now have 2.9?…if so, ota update in us happened last night

 

That's just the change log. The version of aaos you now have can be checked in the car's system.

 

I also now have the car icon and it shows a “Car software” page with 2.9 as the latest update and listing the features. But I chatted with the agent in the app who said it’s not available yet and will be in the coming weeks

 

Word to Iphone users...even though I had just updated to the latest version of Volvo Cars (5.27.0), the car icon was not showing. I had to kill the app and reopen to it see it now there.

Since they didn’t mention it in the notes for 2.9, it’s highly unlikely.
