@roxanaschram Thanks again and thanks for the link. That makes sense. I've disabled HyperV. I also went back into the BIOS settings and enabled Trusted Execution.

I had imported the drive image per the prompts in the VirtualBox Manager but figure I should re-import it just in case I messed something up early on. So, I removed VIDA 2014D from the VirtualBox Manager, and re-imported it. I am seeing this error now, which I saw the first time, but got past by adjusting something that I can't remember. I figure I should post it here before attempting to fix it again.

Sorry that my startup is so buggy - well maybe not bugs, maybe features that I just don't understand.

@lawdogg So the second image would probably go away if you fix the first, I think it was discussed 2 or 3 pages back...

@roxanaschram Got it, so simple. Thanks. (I just disabled the network adapter completely.) It's up and running now, but I have yet to connect it to my car. In review: I left HyperV disabled, and I enabled Trusted Execution in the BIOS boot interface. I'll assume that it will connect to the car fine and will post here if it does not. Thanks a ton for this. 🤘

Followup: The only additional thing I had to do was to select the DICE tool from the USB menu in the lower right of the VM screen. Working great!

@lawdogg BTW, there are how to videos on the site that show how to import and another on how to connect the DICE to the VM. :p I guess I could have mentioned that but I assume people see them since they are under the resources tab...

Hi, Thank you @roxanaschram for your work :) I made a direct install to Win7Pro 64bit VMware machine. Installation went fine but if I want to log in to vida it won't let me type to the "Username" input box :( I thought it was a problem with IE11 and I downgraded it to IE9 but still the same problem. What can I do to fix this? Thanks.

EDIT: Sorry, I got it working :) the alternative patch helped. Thanks

Has anyone had an issue with text display within VIDA in the VM? I searched and did not see any mentions of this issue.

Mine has been great, crystal clear, since I installed it ... but today, all of a sudden the displayed text & graphics look like garbage.

I've tried the zoom in / zoom out function as suggested earlier in the thread but it did not work:

You can change the display scaling through the control panel or "CTRL" and "+" or "CTRL" and scrolling up and down with the mouse wheel.
Here's a screen VM screen shot, you can see the text is not displaying correctly within the VIDA window, but the VM resolution and display itself is perfectly fine:

Looks like it has to do with your scaling. Press CTRL and 0 at the same time to reset the browser scaling. Otherwise I don't see anything wrong.

Thanks, that didn't change anything unfortunately. I messed with the scaling some more, made sure zoom is 100%, resolution is correct, but nothing fixes it. Again, it's JUST an issue within VIDA, nothing else in the virtual machine is affected.

Here's a better screen shot, note the garbled text. Note the crystal clear display of everything else outside of the VIDA browser window.

Yesterday it was displaying perfectly - this is a brand new development today. I had not changed any settings before this happened.

Hi!
For a couple of months ago, I tried to install VIDA on Windows 10, but I gave up. Got something like VIDA not OK.
  • I have now spent the full evening trying to install VIDA again on Windows 10, reading the instruction carefully, and downloading the Patch with the instructions according to step 17. But I can't find any file to unzip, so I ran the patch exe file from the Volvodiag home page and did the changes in the patch files according to step 17, with reboot etc.
  • PROBLEM: When starting "VIDA All-in-One" (VIDA is running, having the green play symbol, clicking on the short-cut on the desktup), I get the "VIDA Username and Login" page in the IE browser. But at the cursor flashing in the Username text entering box - I can't enter anything, not admin, not 1, not 2, etc.
I'm reading on Volvodiag.com, which says: "those running Windows 10 version 2004 or 20H2 will need to run a virtual machine". I checked my version of Windows 10 Pro and it is actually "20H2".
  • Does it mean that the only solution for me with this laptop is to use VIDA over Virtual Box?
  • So with Windows 10 Pro 20H2, it is impossible to install VIDA2014 - confirming to be 100 sure?
Best regards Peter

So I see in one screenshot your VM window is smaller than the second screenshot. I'm guessing you are resizing the window. Try setting a resolution in the VM's display setting and reboot it and don't adjust the window after you reboot.

Sounds like you may have run the wrong patch. If you are running 64bit Windows, make sure to run the Windows 10 64bit patch. You also need to make sure that you had installed 64bit SQL and not 32bit. Mismatching can cause patching issues. Some this can overcome by installing 32bit patch or alternative patch. As for VIDA 2014D will install on 2004/20H2 but they are issues during install that seems to block SQL 2008 in some cases. I'm planning on making a fix for it but haven't had time to narrow down the exact issue causing it blocked during install.

Thanks for the help. Set it to 1440 x 900 and rebooted, did not touch VM window size. Problem persists, no change. Can take a screen grab but it's the same as before.

Hi Roxanaschram!
Thank you for your feedback. I have installed 64 bit versions of the files you mention, and the 64 bit patch was downloaded from your volvodiag.com site yesterday. Here are the folders / and file names:
  • C:/ VidaInstall / SQL2008R2SP2 / SQLEXPR_x64_ENU
  • C:/ VidaInstall / SQL2008R2SP3 / SQLServer2008R2SP3-KB2979597-x64-ENU
  • VIDA Patch 64bit, which after installation showed up under
    C: / VIDA / patch /
    • filldb
    • filldb.sql
    • license
Best regards Peter

I guess I took the notice down off the website too soon. I have updated the patches on the site. The ones included with that download needed updated but with all the other stuff, like finalizing a second server for load balance the downloads from, this has been on the back burner. I think I mentioned it here in the thread too.

@roxanaschram FYI I just deleted and re-installed the VIDA VM and it's fine now. I must have screwed something up before.

For anyone else, if your VIDA gets pixelated inside the VM and you can't fix it, re-install it.

March 22 2021 - I forgot to post this but the language switching tool is available on volvodiag.com . These are beta but should work no issues. Each language is separate at the moment. I'll be posting an all in one soon with even more languages.

February 06 2021 - There are currently some on going issues with DDoS that started this morning. To help counter this, I've enabled higher security through Cloudflare that should not block any legitimate site traffic.

January 25 2021 - I have added the following EWD languages: German, Chinese, Korean, Finnish and Portuguese.

January 25 2021 - I have released the new virtual machines today. It's available in the following languages: English, Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch, Russian, Swedish and Turkish.

January 23 2021 - I have decided to replace all Windows 10 builds with Windows 7 builds as I can guarantee stability over a longer period of time as well as ease of use of everyone downloading. They will be in Virtual Box format so everyone can use it regardless of using Windows, Mac, Unix or Linux. I plan to have this done by February 4, 2021. Once done the VMware images will be archived and no longer available for download to conserve space on the server.

January 22 2021 - Volvo's EWD Online is now available here in English, Spanish, Italian, French, Japanese, Russian, Swedish, Dutch.

January 18 2021 - Volvo EWD Online now available.

January 17 2021 - I've released the Windows 10 installer of VIDA 2014D. It's pretty much a simple download and run the setup. Give it a try!

January 6 2021 - I will be charging $5 to each user account on volvodiag.com that wants access to the virtual machines or direct installer to help cover the cost of the internet connection. This will cover a 1 year period. All patches and tools will remain free. I hate that it comes to this but I shouldn't have to work to give stuff away for free.
