Vacuum & High Pressure Fuel Pump Replacement

So I took my car in to get an oil change at the dealer and they found that the vacuum pump and high pressure fuel pump need to be replaced because it is leaking oil.🤬 (It seems like this car needs $2K/year in maintenance) They did not have the parts and I declined to see if I could get it done cheaper or myself. I looked on FCP Euro and it looks like $1000 in parts. Has anyone replaced these parts themselves? Any tips/tricks/gotchas? Looking at VIDA it recommends lowering the engine to replace the vacuum pump which seems weird because it is on top.

The vacuum pump is $40 in seals and takes an hour to pull out and replace. I did it without doing anything but pulling the pump from the top after removing the battery tray.

These are not part of any maintenance plan. The seals in the vacuum pump just leak over time.

As far as the fuel pump, @TheyCallMeMrR, have you run a fuel pump test in VIDA? Any reason why they state it is failing?

When I got my oil change that side of the engine was dirty from some oil while the rest was clean. Upon further inspection they said a bolt had loosen and which led to the other side of the assembly to crack. I was still in shock/mad because everytime I have taken the car for an oil change something is wrong with it. I did not catch if it was the fuel or vacuum pump. When I got home I did take the cover off and did see that there is an small amount of oil escaping. @p.rico is your S60 an I6 or drive e equipped? This is for a drive e t6 but it looks to be a similar procedure.

Mine is an SI6. I took a look at the VEA engine part online, and it looks similar-ish but without context of the way the VEA engine is sitting in the bay and where exactly the part is located or connected to auxiliary components, YMMV on how simple or not it is to do.

They said the assembly cracked though? Seems a bit strange, but crazy things do happen, I suppose.

Are vacuum pumps more or less the same across all the different S60 engines over the years – 4, 5 and 6 cylinders?
