I was inspired by Brett's work on the sport kit rear bumper for the VR and decided to give it a go on mine.

The bumper skin and bumper bar behind it are shared with the V70 so there little issue with availability, just not in the color i needed. I've liked the look of the V70 T5 with the chrome accent on the trim. I painted it black to match the other black bits on the car. Unfortunately, the front bumper trim off the T5 doesn't fit the front R bumper. I'll leave the accent on the rear and see if it bugs me to not have it match in the front. If you paint the bumper you will likely need to remove the rubber seal that goes between the chassis and bumper edge. It's cheap around $25 from the dealer. P/N 9203080 2001-2007 Volvo Seal.

I ordered the lower valence from GT-Tuning in Germany through fleaBay. http://r.ebay.com/SpNAHs No issues, just need to be patient as it took nearly 4 weeks to arrive from the time of order. Mounting the valence to the bumper was tedious but straightforward. Some of the foam absorber on the bumper bar needs to be cut away around the exhaust opening in order to fit the new valence.

Fit is good but not great on the valence...two things bug me and my OCD self. There is a bit of gap on the sides where the valence and bumper meet. A little finagling and i might be able to get a better fit where they join. The other thing is the shape of the valence at the corners. It has a more rounded contour whereas the bumper skin has a sharper shape. Not bad, but it's there.

Next up are the side skirts. I like the shape of the OEM SR but i'm not sure if i'll be able to modify them to my satisfaction. I'm open to any ideas?

With a hitch below it, as well? Crazy talk! lol

Love the look of it (and your VR, in general). What would you say was your total investment into the rear sport kit valence (obviously parts are about $210 shipped)?

Yo that looks really really good especially with the red and black wheel combo. I'm about to get that rear valance to have in stock when I get a VR incase that seller goes out...

But I would maybe try Elevates side skirts? I think it will be easier to modify than the OEM skirt as it doesn't have fixed mounting points and will be easier to cut/shape to where you need. I have Elevate skirts I would be happy to provide measurments if you need.

Looks great.

The rear apron looks great. From 5' away no one will notice the fitment issues.

For side skirts I've read about some owners getting the SR skirts and hiring a competent body shop to lengthen them, probably by making a mold and laying fiberglass. I've also heard about people using the Evolve skirts too.

I like ! Now you got me thinking.

Thanks all, I'm pretty happy with the results. $200 for the valence, $250 for the bumper and then the cost of painting and prep.

The Elevate skirts were my first consideration but they're expensive for something I'm not sure would work. Do the Elevate skirts replace the rocker panels like the OEM or do they mount on top of the panels?

The local JY has an SR OEM side skirts that I may get and see if it can be modified.

Elevates are half the cost of OEM. Yes they do replace the stock rocker panel, there is an array of clips there you pull out/up on including from underneath.

Stock sport skirts use the same fixed clip points of non-sport rocker panels which can make moving it horizontally a challenge to fit a VR. Elevate skirts have no fixed points you just self tap them to the body where it fits in.

Question, you got bumper and valence. If I wanted to keep my present bumper, I can just buy valence and make it work, right?

Right. The valence will work with your stock bumper.

Also, the section between the exhaust ports was a bit wavy on mine. I attached a 1" wide x 1/8" thick bar near the edge with six screws to flatten it out. You can see the screws if you bend down but I kinda like the look.

I believe even the stock VR bumper cover has that small gap and is annoying. Mine has it anyway.

I just got a Curt hitch put on mine and just by eyeing it, it doesn't look like the valence will fit but OP, I'm impressed, yours did. What kind of hitch did you put on?

Yes, this coming fall. Will likely go with Elevate.

No wiring. I have no plans to use a trailer. It's used for a hitch mount bike rack.

That looks awesome!

I've come up with a passable solution to side skirts on a VR. It's not great, but it's not all that bad!
I used a roofing drip edge and bent the corner at more of an acute angle and did the same for the drip edge in order for 3M 30lb double stick tape to adhere to the stock rocker panel.
I'm considering this temporary for a couple of reasons: even though the tape is strong, I'm not sure how long it will keep sticking. I think it will be fine for at least a year or longer but will need to see. I also need to finish the ends and get rid of the seam at front of the stock rocker paneals.

What I'll probably do is get some junkyard OEM rocker panels and bond this or something like it to the panels and fill in any voids.

I'm really liking the winglets. However, i'm counting the days until i rip them off. I don't know how you SR guys do it....I'm driving like i'm balancing a glass of water on my hood.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but does anyone know where to buy this rear valence? Both eBay links are dead :(
