Hi folks~

We have a 97 850R wagon and I am toying with the idea of replacing it with a V70R sometime this year or definately next. I am wondering what colors the V70R came in for the model years 98-2000? I have only seen black and safffron.

Thanks for the colors, now I looked in the V70 1.0 gallery and was wondering what the spec is on that bright blue model. year? color? US model?

I realized after seeing the lists of colors that I have seen many black and silver models and one saffron. All local.

What year got the front center speaker?

edit: Oh and what about the wheels? The blue v70 I mentioned above has very different wheels than the v70R's I've seen around here.

Thanks again.

I believe the laser blue V70 R was made during the 1999-2000 run. I don't think the differences between the eariler R models are drastic. I do believe that the 2000 V70 had around 260 hp, while the others had 250? I may be wrong though. Oh yeah, these cars had twin tailpipes.

You mean this car?

That's a Euro model, you can tell by the corner markers, though I've seen this car in the US before, so I know it's available.

You could always pick up a set of those 5-spokers like the new C70 has. They're 17" instead of 16" which is I believe what came on the US V70R. That'd look nicer. Those are pictured in the V70 1.0 (that's a cool way to define) gallery on the orange one.

Evolvo~ yep that's the one. I'm not a big fan of the blue really, I was just suprised at the color because I have never seen one in the uS. It reminds me of another car I saw this summer for the first time. In Stonington Borough, CT there was a Audi A6 Q Wagon circa mid 90's and it was that S4 blue, maybe a touch softer. Cool lookin wagon but we blew by him in the 855R

Anyhow...... Cassis Pearl Mettalic. Now can someone show me a pic of that color online?? Sounds HOT, was it an R only color? Saffron was right?

You can tell I'm starting the homework and that color plays big into a purchase.

The corner markers were on the US model in 2000, and here are the differences between the 2000 and the others.

261 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque
vs
236 hp and 227ish torque

Special engine cover (not 20 valve) blue color to match dials on dash with "R" logo
twin port volvo sport exhaust stock.
Also, the 16" "R" wheels were only on the 2000 model in a mix of the anthricite/silver color.

Cool! ~ so what did she pay for the car? What was a "good" price for a new 2000 R?

I was watching a saffron 1998 V70R that had 80K miles. it sold for $17 or $18K, an ebay TX deal. car looked real clean and was one owner. I came SO CLOSE to grabbing it but we had just gotten our NC White 97 855R a week before.

I don't mind traveling at all to get "the" car. Our last two vehicles were long distance rare online scores.

So show me a cassis V70R already......

Saffron and Cassis were actually introduced on the C70, a couple of months before the V70R came out. The S70R, V70R, and C70 are the only models you could get in those two colors as far as I know of.

If there is one, then it is probably a gray market car since it was never imported leagally anywhere in North America.

Drew,

the V70R never came in the US under the colors of Classic Red, Cassis Metallic and Dark Blue Metallic.

Yannis,

I am pretty sure you are right about 'Classic Red' and 'Dark Blue Metallic', but I am almost 100% percent sure that Cassis came to the US on the V70R, because I think I have seen pictures of one, of an owners car. I will try and see if I can find them again. I don't even think I have ever seen a 'Dark Olive Pearl Metallic' either.

It was just a joke, after InDy harassed JHEIII850Turbo until he had all the right color names in his signature

HOLY CRAP GUYS, I JUST GOT SOME AMAZING NEWS.

I had my dad check with volvo today on the specs of the 2000 V70R:

Car comes stock with these engine add ons.

420 CC Injectors (Stock 380? on other R's)
Mitsubishi TD04L-19T Turbocharger
Internal 300/70 Wastegate will hold over 28 psi.
Only model with strenghtened rods and pistons (dunno how, just are) so will handle more power)

With brand new IPD ECU upgrade and sport dual exhaust, engine hp and torque are :
305 HP
315 Ft-lbs torque

I estimate the engine can probably handle maybe 15% more power than the other R's, but then the transmission comes into play.

However, with the 5-speed automatic gearing, the engine and trans stresses are slightly decreased due to the one extra gear, therefore allowing for slightly more accel agressive first 3 gears.

SUPER BUENO is what i've got to say, now i have to get my dad to buy the damn chip.

Drew,

I am not a fan of betting but I am willing to bet you on this one: "Cassis V70 R"...no way! The only model that ever came in the US, in Cassis Metallic, was the C70.
:)

Yannis

BTW, I have seen an Emerald Green Metallic V70R...HORRIFIC!!!!
