Here he says that amp could be plug n play, but this is for newer models I guess. Are they the same? Any thoughts?

 

The basic sound system doesnt have an amp in the back. It is build in to the radio itself I think.

 

Hi! I'm a little bit confused concerning my V50 2.0 2004 audio system. It seems to be a basic system, but in the left back in the trunk, there's an amplifier, and in the cd-unit no amplifier.?? It is definitely not high performance. But apparently also not a basic. Anyone any suggestions, because I want to upgrade my audiosystem.

I swapped my performance sound amp with a premium sound amp and then with the DynAudio amp. I think the Premium sounds better than the DynAudio amp but the DynAudio is much louder. They are plug and play. You should also swap the ICM with one from an upgraded (High Performance or Premium sound) for a better volume contour. Otherwise, it will get way loud too quick. Make sure the ICM is pre-face lift. Post-face lift won't work in a pre-face lift car.

 

Hi. In my V50 2.0D 2004 I replaced the performance amp with a high performance amp. It plays for 5 seconds. Afterthat no sound, cd on pause, just nothing. Anyone an idea? Thx

 

You have MOST security on your Volvo. They turn off amplifier after 5 sec. You need to add new amplifier into the system (codding work only for amplifier which you are add) or you need to take out MOST security from your Volvo. Than you will be able for change all MOST elements without programming/codding they into the car (of course if your volvo work with this model). So for example you can't change single CD into 6-CD changer, but you can change CD player into new one without codding they If yours old was day.
Changing amplifier doesn't give you bigger control on they. If you want to have more sound control options into the menu you need to change software into High Performace or Premium Sound.

 

Thanks for your reply! Learnfulyl. I am a music geek😜. I'll sell the car 2.0D 2004 in mint condition ( exept some scraches in the leather Anyway, wendnesday after another V50 1.6D (taxes!!!l 110pk 168000km.
I know that at these kilometers, some thinks went wrong... (So I'd rather take one with 200000km). BUT folowing parts have been replaced :
alternator, aircopomp, intercooler, radiator, roetfilter..

So what uou think?
And of course it is a high performance audiosysteem. (Pitty it's not a prmium.
