I miss having a dedicated built-in sunglass holder.

What is everyone else doing?

There is an sunglass box accessory. Just remove the overhead handle on top of driver side door, and put the sunglass box there. Some XC90 owners did it. I have not done it, still waiting for the Sun.

Is that for 2018 too? Did a quick search it looks like those are for previous gen?

 

I've been stashing mine in the driver's size door bin. Not ideal for sure, but they're cheap glasses.

We've installed the sunglasses holder in most of our previous Volvos. It was quite easy to do and very convenient. I keep looking at the 2018+ accessories guide for this and do not see it. Not sure if the holder for previous Volvos would fit but then there is the issue of color if it did fit. Charcoal would seem to be the only color similar to past Volvos. I think there was also a light tan version (maybe called soft beige) and quartz but I doubt either of these two would match the Blonde interior. I really do miss this storage option in my 18 XC60 and hope that Volvo will eventually come out with one.

Interestingly enough I just looked at an accessory website and some of these older part numbers were listed as fitting a 2018 XC90 and S90. I wonder if any of these would fit the 18 XC60. I'm going to see if the soft beige one we have in the 12 XC60 will fit my 18. If it does I will order the charcoal and install it.

 

My sunglasses are too big for most built in sunglass holders - I guess I have a big head! So I just keep them in a case in the driver's side door bin, where a bottle would go. The case is large enough that it doesn't really move around while I'm driving. I've never actually put a bottle in the driver's side bin anyway on any car, so it seems like the best place.

 

I stuck the vinyl case that came with my clip-on sunglasses to the front of the sun visor.

 

It took Volvo a long time to put A/C in their cars too.

 

Pretty cold up there in Sweden, but there must be plenty of sun??

 

Amazon has a black leather (faux?) magnetic sunglasses holder. Bought one for my Boxster and it works great! Very easy to get out of the holder when you need it.

 

The sunglasses holder that replaces the driver's side grab handle is not available for the 2018 XC60 & the earlier version does not fit. I asked Volvo & they said they would submit a request but I'm not holding my breath & no one at Volvo seems to know why it is no longer available.

 

I purchased the one for the XC90 and was able to install it on my XC60 T8 just fine. It did take some time and finessing to insert the plastic tab into the headliner to secure the holder but it fits perfectly.

 

The XC90/V90 have a little cubby to the lower left that I think is used for this, unfortunately it looks like it didn't make it to the XC60. I would suggest glovebox, door pocket, or a visor mount

 

Glad XC60 still has overhead handle above door frame. Hope they will offer the sunglass case accessory there like on old models.

 

agree. part number 1281823 fits perfectly fine on the 2018 XC60.

I bought that on April 4th, and it works great. 1 pair of sunglasses and 1 pair of readers close at hand

 

Tasca sells the Volvo sunglass holder (that someone mentioned above) for $37. Much better than the Amazon or Ebay options. It comes in black, gray and beige. It's a snap to install. Just be sure to check the part # to see if it fits your vehicle.

I had my dealer install the beige sunglass holder to driver side handgrip, this was in November using the previous years part and I have blond interior it looks good.

 

I just had one installed (but dark due to my black headliner). I was worried it would stick down too far and I'd knock my head on it, but it's not much larger than the handle it replaced.

Two words for those in the fence: do it.

 

those sunglasses holders were always too small to fix my sunglasses. never used them.

 

Although there is no part listed for the 2018 XC60, the Volvo accessory sunglass holder listed for the 2018 XC90 also fits the XC60. I purchased it & had the dealer install it & works fine.
