Re: (darylkaiser30)

About 89200 miles right now. New tranny put in under CPO warranty a few hundred miles ago, did clutch at the same time since it saves about $1000 in labor to do it when the tranny's coming out anyway. Otherwise, runs flawless, though the lifters are getting noisy

We'll see how many more summers of track days it lasts through...

That's quite a few miles for a four year old car. How many of those are track miles?

Not many, this summer was my first time doing track days (did six at BIR and two at RA) so I guess maybe 1200-1500 track miles. Most of the miles are highway cruising.

What's your overall fuel economy?

yea i've been meaning to ask you guys about this cuz mine sure doesn't seem right...

my computer reads 18 liters per 100kms (which is like 62.1 miles)

so i should be averaging around 3.4 miles per liter...

how does that translate to miles per gallon in US ?

now i do very very short trips in heavy traffic and do a lot of idling unfortunately so i'm guessing the computer might be way off....

when i was driving on intercity highways to the south, i used to average something like 10-10.5 liters per 62.1 miles so that was like 6 miles per liter....

thats like 13.5 or .6 mpg... not good at all.

Highway @ 55-60MPH I can get 30-32MPG. At more typical speeds (75+) it's about 24-26MPH. On the track it's 7-9MPG. My daily commute to work is about 18MPG.

Do you notice a change in your overall mpg before and after you spend a day at the track? By that, I mean does a day at the track affect the mileage you will get during normal driving? Please advise.

i get 60mpg on a 5% grade. rofl.

on the turnpike i get kabillion miles to the gallon

I never noticed that happen. I mean, why would it? I suppose a track day could mess up the learned shift pattern of a GT, but my ride is MT.

Yes, that's exactly what I was wondering with the GT. Would a day at the track through my tranny out of whack?

Probably not if you use GT mode the whole time.

OK, good to know. I will hopefully find out soon!

I have also noticed that my fuel economy has dropped a bit since I put my stock rims back on, but maybe I'm just imagining things again...

They're probably heavier.

unsprung weight "weighs" much more than standard weight - they would absolutely make a difference
