I registered for automatic payments for my CBV car the day I received instructions from VCFS in late July. I assumed all would be good after that; simple and easy. On August 10 they sent me a letter saying that it takes a month to process automatic payments and that they would begin in September. Until then, I needed to pay via check or manual payment on their website and that payment was due August 11, one day after they drafted the letter. The letter arrived on August 17. By the time I figured this out, I owed them an extra $20 for a late payment. Thanks, VCFS - you’ve managed to extend the clunky CBV experience beyond delivery of the car. Nicely done.

Compared to the competition, VCFS has some work to do to improve the website functionality and level of service.

Got a call last week from a very terse female asking what I'd like to do about my July payment that was now 25 days past due. Keep in mind I'd not received a single snail mail or email or call before this.

I told her what 'd like to do is for her to check her records because not only had I'd paid July's but I'd already paid August's as well using their website. I had the emails with confirmations to prove it. She said she didn't see any payments and I needed to rectify the situation immediately.

After about 20 minutes back and forth she put me on hold.

Apparently Volvo generated two original contracts for me, and had two different account numbers. (She blamed the dealership which I believe to be a load of bull).

My payments were going toward account one which unbeknownst to me was now defunct. I had to resign up online with the new account number, and they applied my payments correctly.

All worked out in the end but what a damn cluster%*^$ getting there.

I did mail in my first payment, after I set up autopay; I didn't trust the first payment which was due within the week after receiving the invoice to go through, now it is working as expected.

My advice is mail in your first payment.

When I bought my XC90 T8 from Volvo Marin, they told me I can only buy the car if I use VCFS. I had a pre-approved loan from my bank. I was also told that I should not refinance immediately after purchase. Not sure if this the dealers policy or Volvo's.

That sounds fishy. I wonder of if the Finance managers get docked their comission if you refi within the first 30 days.

Yo yo scam

Has anyone experienced a Volvo dealership do a spot delivery scam, also known as yo yo financing? My son, a 23 recent college grad with a good job (double major mechanical-nuclear Engineer), just got scammed this way by a dealership in Virginia. He went in on Saturday to look at a 2015 XC60, liked the car and said he wanted to put $3000 down for them to hold the car while he completed the loan with the credit union he belongs to. The dealership said if we can match your credit union interest rate will you do the deal today, so they, the dealership said the got the rate, he signed all the papers and drove the car home. Yesterday the dealership calls and says there is a problem with the financing and the rate is now 7.1% up from the 2.99% in the paperwork. He either has to find financing on his own or accept the increased rate. I can't believe Volvo would permit a dealership to operate this way.

I had a similar experience with Volvo Finance, obviously not with the same dealer. As a result, this time around I steered clear of Volvo Finance. Volvo  Volvo Finance :thumbdown:

I had a great experience with Volvo Corp Finance Services. I know most people come here to gripe, but I had no issues.

Our 3 year 36k lease went smoothly. Paid online from start to finish. Everyone was polite. No charge for anything except flat tires the whole time.

At the end, about 3 months before, someone came and looked at the car. Was quoted $1,300 to fix the dings and dents. This was the family car that two teenagers learned to drive with. Every week there was a new ding. This was a steal.

Dropped the car off at the Volvo dealer closest to my son’s college, two states away from where we got it. Drop off was quick. No one even looked at the car. Got the final bill and all is done.

Everyone misses the ‘ole V60. VCFS was great.

I mean it's not really a "scam" to ask the buyer to re-do the contract. It's more like an invitation to revise the terms.

VCFS or the dealership can "ask" your son to re-do the deal, but your son is not obligated to play ball. He signed a deal at 2.99%. The person at the dealership was wearing his big boy pants. It's done. Probably someone at the dealership will get fired for not checking with VCFS before signing the deal but that's not your son's problem.

The dealership says he signed a contingency contract which is true but they told him and me over the phone they matched the 2.99 financing which is the only reason he did the deal. I told him to get a check in hand but he didn’t. He really didn’t intend to walk out with a car that day but it was the end of the month end of the quarter so I know the dealer wanted to make his numbers.
As you can see I have owned 7 Volvo’s and co-signed for my daughter’s. I get treated very well by our service department at home and my son has had a great experience with the service department in Lynchburg VA (not the dealership that tried to screw him). He went in twice with a nail in the tire on the 2007 XC70, Both times they repaired it at no charge and washed & vacuumed the car. They didn’t know him from Adam yet treated him like he owned a Volvo for the last 50 years. He would have dealt with them but they didn’t have an XC60 AWD on the lot. Suffice it to say he is much wise because of this ordeal. In the end he secured the financing from the credit union. Volvo should be glad they will only lose the financing and not a lifetime customer.
