1/4 mile times are vastly different....the last STI that I had a chance to drive runs in the upper 11s to low 12s.

That car had to be modified somehow...stock, I would expect 1/4 times in the mid-13s (maybe a tick lower with a really good driver).

Re: STI Vs. R (TomW)

It was rather heavily modded...original stock times were in the 13.2-13.3 range according to the owner. The vehicle has been lightened and has new downpipe, exhaust and apparently has a one-off intercooler. It cranks!

Unrelated ... I like the Vdub in your sig. I used to own a '97 VR6. Fun car.

He makes his rounds on here just trying to annoy the hell out of anyone he can.

Just about what I expected from you. I'm not out to annoy anyone. I'm simply looking to maintain the integrity of the posts around here. Let's get the story straight here: First you said that you were selling your car since you'd gotten in over your head financially. Soon after doing a little math, you found out that you stood to loose some money by selling so soon after your purchase and you decided to start the tirade of LEGAL ACTION. Good move to fulfill your objectives, but dishonest nonetheless. I'm annoyed with lies, so cut the bull.

I liked this post:

This is too much car for me. I'm 27 and buying this car wasn't the prudent thing to do. I'm trying to save for a house. I will miss this car tremendously!!! It is a work of art. Instant message me with any questions or e-mail me at vr6mh@hotmail.com

You've heard of The Smoking Gun, right? I just hope that Volvo does in fact keep track of some of the SS posts.

Re: (24Hours)

24Hours, Im guilty of one thing, and I do feel guilty about it. I put a phony reason in the classifieds for my reason for selling. I knew there was no chance in hell of selling my R in here on swedespeed. It was a joke. There were three ads right around mine of people trying to dump theirs. And how in the world would someone by it when one section over in the R forum I was complaining and bitching about my car from the VERY FIRST DAY. Hope I cleared things up for you, as you seem more interested in me than even I am?? Its a good thing I wasn't a moderator, as I would have cut your % rating in half for disrespecting JRL a couple of days ago!!

Were you in the UPS truck or the S60R?? .

Just because I have mentioned on here where I work, I think its pretty rude and out of line to talk about my job in a degrading manner such as this. I'm sorry I'm not as high class as you. This is the second time you've thrown my blue collar job in my face, and I do consider that threatening, as most people, like myself, would defend themselves at all cost to defend their dignity!!

Michaelr,
Check my IM...

C'mon. I may have poked fun at JRL, but that's like picking low fruit!

Damn...all done with (essentially) bolt-on stuff. I recall spending several thousand $ and several months' tuning on a Toyota Corolla GT that I used to autocross in the early 80s - complete engine/drivetrain replacement, custom head work, etc. - only to get into the mid-14s. A 12-second street car in those days was nearly unheard of and was almost always a big-block V8 stuffed into something not designed for it. There was the occasional VW Bug that could do it as well.

If only one could go back in time with an STi...

I just got done racing a regular WRX. They have 227 horse and have a 5.4 0-60 time. From a stop I was two car lengths in front of him at 70. Then we raced from 40 to 100 mph, and it was dead even. He was a really good sport. Big thumbs up and shouted he loved the car!!

Hi Mike,

I am the one who raced you on Sunday. First race wasn't really a race because I didn't go WOT in 2nd gear. You were two lanes away so I didn't think that you would really race me. FYI, stock WRX 0-60 time is equivalent to S60R (5.4 - 5.7 sec).

2nd race was pretty exciting wasn't it? I thought I pulled slowly in 4th gear. Either way, we were nearly dead even in 2nd and 3rd gear.

By the way, I own WRX (Cobb Stage 2+), which has upgraded exhaust, ECU reflash, lightened pulley, and Samco I/C hoses (~300hp). Check out http://www.cobbtuning.com for more info. It's pretty amazing what $2k mods can do.

Stock WRX will have no chance against the R.

You think that's funny??
As for Michael, MY UPS guy has a Viper....

Re: (JimLill)

Low 13s is pretty common on STi or EVO. With basic bolt on mods, mid 12s is achievable for under $2k in mods. As is the case for all F/I vehicle, removal of any sources that induce backpressure yields huge hp gain. Exhaust modification and ECU reflash are pretty popular mods for WRX as they yield up to 50-60whp in gain (check out http://www.turboxs.com or http://www.cobbtuning.com for dyno results).

I expect similar results on S60 R... look what chipped S4 can do!

Re: (WRXreX)

Hey, how shocked am I you found me here. I glad you did. It seems as though you really know your stuff about mods!! What would you say your horsepower was on Sunday. I'm happy your car is heavily modified because I was a little surprised that we hung dead even from 40 to 100. That was awesome. I get that exciting foot shake when I do that!! Have you had a chance to drive the STI yet. I drove one once a month or so ago and Ill be driving one again next week. I did test drive your car a while back and did like it. The thing that I dislike was the interior. But to each his own. Is there a cool forum for all you subaru fans out there that you belong to.

I also had a huge advantage on you because I was solo and you had your girl in the car. I think I remember her having her feet up on the dash?? I hope she had time to take them down before you nailed it

Well, it was one heck of a race, wasn't it? Yeah, I am glad that you now realize that my car wasn't stock. If I were you, I would have been upset that 227hp Subaru was able to hang with you.

All in all, it was a good race. Where are you from? I live in New Paltz and work in Poughkeepsie.

My buddy has STi at CIA and yes, I test drove it. One of the thing that I love about it is its 6sp shifter and braking (Brembo like the one on the R).

There are a few heavily modified WRXs in Poughkeepsie. With turbo upgrade, WRX can run high 12s easily. My next mod is turbo upgrade (and supporting fuel upgrade) and bigger intercooler.

If I have S60 R, I would consider upping the boost level as well as custom design downpipe/midpipe and remove catalytic converters. Should be good for gain of 30-40hp easily.

Hehehe...how about 40 hp with just ECU reflash?

As others have stated...it would nice to see timeslips on cars with reflashed ECUs. It always seems that tuners over-assume the HP gains obtained.

Timeslips would be nice, but my R isn't going to see much track time. I was thinking about buying a GTECH ... just haven't got around to it. I needed the radar detector first.

FWIW - I can honestly say that the extra kick in the pants was noticable. It wasn't as significant as adding a downpipe and a boost controller to my Supra, but there was a noticable difference. It was worth the money in my book.
