Low means it doesn't raise the volume as much the faster you go. High means it raises it more the faster the vehicle goes. I don't remember off hand if it can be shut off but if it can be there should be a check box you uncheck to do so.

 

Unfortunately I don't see a check mark but would love be able to turn this feature off...

 

I'll check mine later when I'm in the car to make sure I too don't have an on off option.

 

Don't have my XC yet but I'm hoping there is an option to turn this off. Would be ridiculous to not have the option to disable it. Couldn't find any useful info in the manual about this feature's settings.

 

I think you are viewing it "backwards". It increases volume as you speed up, not lower volume as you slow down. So if you set the volume you like while stopped, it will increase the volume as you go faster, which will increase cabin noise from wind/tires/etc.

 

I have to admit that I didn't understand how this feature worked, either. This makes a lot more sense.

 

I don't know why anybody would like to disable this. You set the volume and you never have to adjust it again, because the car does it automatically for you, depending on your speed. I never noticed any changes in volume, just that I never has to change it while I am driving.

 

I find it doesn't increase volume quite enough when set to high. Since I bought the vehicle 18 months ago I've had to increase volume at highway speed and then lower when back on surface streets.

I do like the feature though and have always used it in all my previous vehicles that had had it, I just wish they'd make 'high' turn things up a click or two for high speeds.

 

At least it works to some degree in SPA vehicles, I've enabled it to high in my XC60 but its has absolutely no effect.

Strangely enough, my 2002 Chevy Impala implemented this feature perfectly.

 

Unfortunately Volvo have Arrogantly taken away any option at all to reduce it or turn it off completely... The most annoying & useless feature in any car but at least it can be switched off on other branded cars.. Totally destroyed my music listening experience.. A simple software update can fix this problem..
