Starting research for snow tires for my stock 22" rims. Dealer recommended upsizing to 275/40/r22. Anyone put snows on the stock 22's? Do not want to put on different wheels!

Dealer recommended upsizing in that direction? Interesting. Can you get that in writing?

That's over a 3% bump in size vs the stock 275/45R20 and almost 4% from your current tire size.
Yes the dealer recommended but did say I would be the first to try it. Many commenters have concern about 22" wheels and winters. Any reason why?. Would have to assume since manufacturers make 22" snows there is not a problem.

It's not the size that matters, it's the width (where smaller = better) because of the pressure-per-square-inch (where higher = better). I drive a T8, which is about 900 pounds heavier than a T6, so I decided to stay with the 275's, where 255's would have of course been better, especially on the T6.

Not winters, but all seasons. Research done by my friend.

Based on my research you should be able to run any tires with the following sizes on your stock 22" wheels:

-Original Equipment Size -- 275/35R22
-Slightly smaller but pretty close to same width -- 265/40R22
-Slightly smaller and a little skinnier which can be beneficial for driving in snow -- 265/35R22
-Larger than OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer aka Volvo) and a little wider but not by much shouldn't have any issues with fitment -- 285/35R22

With that said you can search by tire size on the two following sites and get reviews etc. The 17' XC90 isn't out yet so you can't search by vehicle so you'll need to search by size instead. In my experience and opinion ( and I've had a ton of different wheels and tires on my various cars) I prefer Yokohama, Hankook, Continental and most BFGoodrich tires.

I would personally buy either of these if I were you:

Winter tires need to be narrow and tall. Go with dedicated 19" rims an Winter tires.

Ended up getting a set of pirelli scorpion winters size 265/40/r22. Dealer contacted tire distributor and this was their size match to the OEM size. Will update post once I get them on snow. They fit the wheel wells even when suspension is lowered which was one of my original concerns.

Beautiful machine.

What size A/S did you go with?

Trying to have my shop install 285/35/22s on the same rims. They say Volvo hasn't come back to them as to whether they will allow them to mount. The tires are (.5) out of the acceptable range for the rims. Why make a 22' rim 9" wide when the majority of the tires start at 9.5"? Buffoonery, IMO.

I went to 18" wheels and snow tires to let the 22" wheels and tires rest for the winter. I got a set of 18" Volvo take-off wheels, TPMS sensors, and Continental snow tires in 245/60/18 size for $1,250 all in. You will spend close to this amount for just tires, dismounting, mounting, and balancing. If you have a 2017, you can get the same set, minus TPMS sensors since you don't need them, for $1,000.

Yeah, it took me a long time to find tires to fit. My friend recommended both of these below. I went with the Continentals which are the same size you described. My dealer had no problem at all fitting them. Also Les Schwab would do it, albeit for twice as much ($250).

Let me know if you want close-ups of the tires. I pick it back up from the detailer tomorrow at 5 PST.
