Hey guys,

I tried to have a search for this but couldn't find it anywhere.

Is there a way that I can have the two zones synced up both passenger and driver? It irritates me that I have to turn the temp for both sides to a desired setting.

Nope....which is kinda odd, I know. Not sure why but every Volvo has always been this way. It does require additional buttons, and maybe they just try to keep the system controls as simple as possible. Trust me...soon you'll just turn both dials and give it no thought. Will be interesting to see if the new XC90 changes this.

Luxury is all about convenience and it's inconvenient to have to adjust two temperature controls all the time. There are blanks in the center console, one just below the A/C button, that could have been used for this purpose without sacrificing "form". And with a little thought, a press and hold of the "Auto" button could have performed the sync task as well. After 3 years I find it's not the most annoying quirk but I'd rather have the sync option. Just because Volvo has always done it this way doesn't mean it's the best way.

Unless you are keeping one side at 80 and the other at 70, why do you need to adjust both sides all the time? If you want 72 on your side, and the passenger side is 74, do you really think it matters?

That's besides the point. They made the feature of individual temperature control available. How it's used is up to the driver.
Everyone is different in how they set the temperature and are free to do what they want as often as they want.
Temperature setting vs. comfort is highly personal.

Not everyone is bothered by the lack of a Synch feature to the same extent. I for one is not bothered much but I think it is a good idea and would definitely appreciate it if it was available.

On a Ford Focus you hold down the Auto button for two to four seconds and
they sync. Adjust the temp using the passenger knob and they automatically
un-sync. Seems like it is all done in software using the existing knobs.

I hope everyone here realizes that it takes less than 2 - 4 seconds to just turn the other dial. I would imagine that it is similar to the reasoning that volume knobs are back on radios and not buttons. Knobs are more tactile and easier to grab without looking down for a bottom in a row of buttons.

In the short time I have had the car I have realized that everything Volvo does is rooted in safety. Wouldn't everyone agree that there with the radio showing the temp that that is why this was done if you think about the root cause?

Every car I've owned there have been minor things that I would like to have changed. This Volvo has been the most user configurable of them. Still with a little more software menu items in Sensus almost all of these little annoyances could be eliminated. Fortunately for us Volvo is not afraid to make updates that we all can take advantage of, for example, adding Sport Mode to the transmission and the Trip Computer in Sensus. No other car that I've owned has given me new features after the sale

It irritates me as well. I wish the sensor used to decide whether the passenger airbag should be on or off was also used to auto lock these somehow.

I had this 'sync' feature on my Honda Accord and Acura TSX. At first, I was very annoyed when I realized my S60 didn't have this. But, I just leave the passenger side set at 72 and adjust the driver's side for what suits me. If you really think about it, that's what the system is designed to do anyway.

Since the thread has been brought back to life I figured I'd chime in to add that I'm finding this irritating compared to my 2009 C70, which has just the one temperature control knob which defaults to controlling both, pressing it cycles thru drive, pax, and then back to both...

Only thing more infuriating switching between the two is that the S60 is keyless and the C70 isn't - I'm forever looking for buttons and/or keys that aren't there :/

Not having a back up cam is hurting me. We knew that before we bought it but what is funny is going back and forth between the two cars. I forget to use the cam in the ford and look for the cam in the S60. LOL I probably look like an idiot. (ok ... nobody say it! lol )

You resurrected a three year old thread for that?
